Procedure documentation Importing from the Client  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Prerequisites

Perform the following steps before the client import:

·        You store the exported PKG files (with their dependent files) of an EP 5.0 installation locally on the client.

·        You download an EP 5.0 business package from the SAP Developer Network and store it locally on the client.

Caution

If you import EP 5.0 content from the client, you must first collect all the components of the PKG archive in a ZIP file. The upload from the client to the server only works if the file is in ZIP format. Make sure that the ZIP file contains a PKG file; otherwise the import will not work. EP 5.0 business packages that you download from the SAP Developer Network are already in ZIP format.

Procedure

       1.      Open the Package Import Editor (see Package Export Editor and Package Import Editor).

       2.      Select that you want to import from the Client.

       3.      Navigate locally with the Browse function to the folder on the client and select the ZIP file that you want to upload and import.

       4.      Upload the ZIP file to the server. The file is automatically stored there in a folder with the same name as the ZIP file.

The file is automatically unpacked during the upload and the individual objects are listed in the import preview. The complete ID is displayed for each object.

       5.      Specify whether or not the existing content objects in the portal may be overwritten by the import.

       6.       Start the import and thus also the migration by choosing Import.

Caution

You cannot monitor the migration with the migration tool of the portal. This does not work when importing EP 5.0 objects (in contrast to importing EP 6.0 objects).

When you start the import, you only get a message that the migration is running and a link to the folder on the server containing the log files. You can go directly to the log file using the link.

       7.      Make sure that the message „ENDOFPROTOCOL“ appears at the end of the log. The import and migration have only ended when this string appears.

Note

You need read and write permission for the import and export directories, the PKG package and the directory of log files.

Result

You can find the imported and migrated objects in the portal under the following path in the Portal Catalog: Portal Content Migrated Content EP 5.0. The content objects are sorted by content object type (iViews, pages, worksets, etc.) and stored below the folder EP 5.0.
