Procedure documentation Defining the Installation Sequence  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

With an installation sequence you can define the order in which mobile components are installed on the mobile devices. The definition of an installation sequence is especially important for the first installation of a mobile device. You define the order of the installation using the Mobile Administrator and the function Device Configuration.

When defining the installation sequence, note the following:

You can define only one device configuration with an installation sequence per user.

The device configuration with the installation sequence can only contain one version of a mobile component.

If one of the mobile components is already installed on the device, this component is ignored during the installation.

You cannot change installation sequences that are already being used. When you cancel the assignment of an installation sequence to a device, the applications installed with the installation sequence are not deleted from the mobile device.

You can only delete an installation sequence if it is no longer assigned to any users. If you cannot delete the assignment because the mobile device is no longer used, delete the user data and the mobile device data first (see Searching for and Deleting Obsolete Mobile Devices).

Prerequisites

There must already be an MCD for each mobile component that you want to define in the installation sequence (see Deploying Mobile Components on the Server).

You have started the Mobile Administrator.

Procedure

...

       1.      Switch to the Device Configuration function.

       2.      Switch to the Mobile Components tab page.

       3.      Add the required mobile components. If you add a new mobile component, you can also determine where it comes in the installation sequence.

If you want to determine this later, choose Edit Sequence.

Note

An installation sequence cannot contain another installation sequence.
