Forwarding RequestsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

After change requests have been imported successfully, they are automatically marked for import into further SAP Systems or clients. The transport route configuration determines which change requests are automatically forwarded to which target systems or clients.

To forward a request to a client, extended transport control must be activated.

Besides automatically forwarding change requests using predefined transport routes, you may have to import a change request into a target system outside the predefined transport routes.

Note

Forwarding means that a request is placed in the import queue of the chosen SAP system. It is not imported automatically.

Procedure

To forward a request manually:

  1. Call transaction STMS.
  2. Choose . The Import Overview appears.
  3. Position the cursor on an SAP system whose import queue contains the relevant request.
  4. Choose . The import queue of the selected SAP system appears.
  5. Position the cursor on the request that you want to forward.
  6. To forward the request to an SAP system, choose Start of the navigation path Request Next navigation step Forward Next navigation step System End of the navigation path.

    To forward the request to a Client, choose Start of the navigation path Request Next navigation step Forward Next navigation step Client End of the navigation path.

    The Forward Transport Request dialog box appears.

  7. Enter the SAP system/client to which you want to forward the request.

    The request is placed in the import queue of the target system.

    Note

    The SAP system to which you want to forward the request must belong to the transport domain.

    If the source and target system are in different transport groups, the transport files are transferred (see Special Features when Using Multiple Transport Directories).

    The forwarded change request is normally imported into the target system the next time the entire queue is imported.

  8. If you want to import the request immediately:
    • In the Import Queue, choose Start of the navigation path Queue Next navigation step Other Queue End of the navigation path. The Display Import Queue dialog box appears.
    • Enter the target system.
    • Choose Continue. The import queue of the selected target system appears.
    • To update the display, choose . The request you have forwarded is at the end of the import queue.
    • Import the request as an individual import.
