Purpose

Transport recording enables you to collect translations in a transport request for a specific target language. You can then use this transport request to transport the translations to other systems.

For example, you can transport all of the English translations that you created this week to the test and production systems. You can therefore avoid having to perform language transports for the whole system or a set of packages.

If you select workbench request as the transport type, translation transports to other systems can be automated. You can also set up delta transports between your translation system and the target systems into which your translations need to be imported.

Integration

Transport recording enables you to collect the translations created in transaction SE63 for any target language in accordance with the following criteria:

·        Period in which the translations were created.

·        Object type of the translated objects

·        Translator who created the translations

·        ABAP package (collection) to which the translated objects belong

·        Software component to which the translated objects are assigned.

The transport requests can be created automatically. The names of the transports consist of a fixed part, and a part that you define yourself.

You manage transport requests created in transport recording in exactly the same way as standard transport requests. For more information, see Transport Organizer (BC-CTS-ORG).

You can schedule transport requests so that they are created on a regular basis, which automates the process of transporting translations.

Features

When you fill a transport request with objects, the system creates a detailed log, listing any objects that could not be written to the transport request.

The transport requests in transport recording are filled with objects of type LANG. They do not contain the original development objects. For example, the translation of message SKTY 009 is recorded as follows:

LANG   MESS   SKTY009

This means you cannot harm development objects when you transport translations.

Activities

To use transport recording to transport translations, proceed as follows:

...

       1.      Collect translations for each target language in the transport requests generated by the system.

For more information, see Filling Transport Requests With Translations.

       2.      Display the transport requests.

For more information, see Displaying Transport Requests in Transport Recording.

       3.      Release the requests, and transport the translations to other systems.

Proceed in the same way as for standard transport requests. For more information, see the documentation Transport Organizer (BC-CTS-ORG) from the topic Request Editor onwards.
