Use

The export package is dowloaded and placed in a specified location to be available for transport to other portal systems.

A preview of the objects to be exported, including the status information (e.g. “available”), is displayed. You can exclude certain objects from the export and then start the export.

Prerequisites

You created a transport package and filled it with content.

The following functions are offered on the screen for the export preview:

You can restore the original state of the export preview.

Browse

With Export to, you display to where the package will be exported. The predefined export directory of the server is displayed.

With Browse you can search for a subdirectory of the export directory choose Select.

Caution

Objects belonging to the SAP namespace do not appear in the export preview, even if you included them in the package. These objects are not included in packages to protect from being imported again. This prevents newer versions of SAP objects from being overwritten by older versions. See also Protection of Objects During Import and Export.

Procedure

...

       1.      From the Static Package Content view of the Export Package Editor, choose Export to go to the Export Preview page.

¡        You can filter the object types listed using the Objects to Display drop-down list.

¡        To go back to the Static Package Content view, choose Cancel.

       2.      Check the suggested export directory. Using Browse you can search for a subdirectory of the predefined export directory on the server and choose it using the Select link.

The name of the package is automatically entered as file name with the EPA extension. The file name also contains a version number.

       3.      Choose Start Export. A new screen appears which shows the status of the export, which is updated automatically.

¡        To stop an export in process, choose Stop Export.

¡        When the export is finished, a Download Export File link is available..

       4.      During the export, a log file is created as an XML file. This XML file can be monitored with the CCMS tool and displayed with the Log Viewer. For more information about portal monitoring see Monitoring Techniques and Logging.

For information about configuring log files see Configuring Transport.

Caution

Note that objects can only be exported if they are not locked. If there is a single locked object in the package, the entire package cannot be exported. See Lock Mechanism During Import and Export.

Result

Once the export has finished, you can check if the objects were correctly exported using the log with the status information. Each successfully exported object is indicated with the status OK. Errors during the export are also displayed.

After a successful export, the package is stored in EPA format in the corresponding export directory on the server. The EPA archive can be imported again (e.g. into the production system). For more information about importing, see Importing EPA Archives.

You can also download the transport package to the client. To do this, select Download Export File on the screen for the export status.
