Procedure documentationSpecifying System Data and Initially Setting Up Tasks


To use Central System Administration, you complete the following settings:

  • Complete the task customizing by setting up the task frequencies (required).

    Note Note

    When the Central System Administration is set up, the task frequency of every task in the task list is set to not active.

    You have the following options for customizing the task frequencies:

    • Load default frequencies for all tasks of the Central System Administration session.

    • Enter the task frequency manually for each task you work with.

  • Set the system type.

  • Add additional task structures.

    Caution Caution

    Only choose additional task structures if your system to be administered is an SAP HANA system or an SAP R/3 backend system and communicates with an SAP component system, for example, SAP CRM or SAP SCM.

  • Create your own user-defined tasks (optional).

  • Rename the Customer Task Area (optional).


In the Choose Administration and Monitoring Work Area, you have chosen the ENTIRE view. For more information, see Choosing Administration and Monitoring Work Area.


Specify System Data for Central System Administration Session
  1. In the navigation area, choose your current session <SID><installation number>.

  2. On the System Type tab, specify the system type, for example, production system, development system, or quality assurance system.

    Note Note

    This field is for documentation purposes only, and is displayed in the session after the system names. You can also specify your own system texts.

  3. On the Add Additional Task Structure tab, specify the components with which your system communicates. The system dynamically generates an additional task structure for the selected component.

  4. To activate default values for the frequency of each task of the session, choose Load Default Frequencies.

    The default values are based on SAP experience. You can activate the default values at session level, system level, or task level.

  5. If desired, you can create your own user-defined tasks. For more information, see Creating User-Specific Tasks.

  6. Save your entries.

Specify Frequency of Single Task
  1. In the navigation area, choose Customer Task Area or the name you have defined.

  2. Choose the relevant task area and then the task group.

  3. On the Task List tab, change the task frequency, which has the standard value not active.

  4. Save your entries.
