Procedure documentationConfiguring Alert Management Reporting Apps

To allow you to obtain a quick overview of the occurrence of alerts in your managed systems, there is an Alert Management dashboard available to you. By default, this dashboard is displayed with three apps. However, SAP delivers four additional apps that you can also add to the ALM Dashboard (see Apps for Alert Management Reporting). These are the following apps:

  • Number of Alerts

The number of alerts for the selected period is displayed. There are two other apps for this purpose that you can add to the dashboard, which display the number of alerts broken down by alert type (for example, dialog response time is too high) or by managed object (for example, technical instance or system).

  • Number of Incidents

The number of support messages for the selected period is displayed. There are two other apps for this purpose that you can add to the dashboard, which display the number of messages broken down by alert type or administered object.

You can also adjust the apps delivered by SAP to your needs by editing the existing apps. You have the following options when doing so:

  • You can set the title of the app individually.

  • You can determine separately for each app the alert types that are to be used as the data basis for the app. By default, the app displays data for all alert types. However, you can also filter to particular categories of alert types (Availability, Configuration, errors, performance), or to particular alert types.

  • You can determine separately for each app the managed objects that are to be used as the data basis for the app. By default, the app displays data for all managed objects. However, you can filter to particular types of objects (such as technical system, host, database, or instance), or to particular objects.

  • You can set the maximum number of objects that are to be simultaneously displayed in a bar chart in the app.

Procedure

To configure the Alert Management Reporting app, call the ALM dashboard, and go to configuration mode (see Configuring Dashboards). You go to the configuration screen of the app, either by adding a new app to the dashboard, or by choosing Edit for an app.

  1. The screen for configuring the ALM app appears, on which you can make the following configuration settings:

    • You can adjust the default title of the app to your requirements.

    • On the Alert Types tab page, you can restrict the alert types that are to be used as the data basis for the app. The following options are available when doing so:

      • To display the data for all alert types, choose the All alert types radio button.

      • To display alert types of particular categories, choose the Alert types by category radio button, and choose the desired categories.

      • To display only particular alert types, choose the Only selected alert types radio button. Display the available alert types in the list Filtered Alert Types by specifying the categories to be filtered and optional parts of the short description (you can use wildcard characters such as *), and choose Get Types. Select the desired alert types from the list and choose Add.

All of the alert types from the list Selected Alert Types are displayed.

To save your changes, choose Set.

    • On the Managed Objects tab page, you can restrict the managed objects that are to be used as the data basis for the app. Similar selection options are available to you here as for the alert types (see above).

    • You can set the maximum number of objects that the app simultaneously displays in a bar chart by adjusting the slide control Initially displayed number of bars.

  2. Your changes are only permanently saved when you choose Save Dashboard.
