As an IT service manager, approve a service outage which the administrator responsible for the managed object has manually created or changed, regularly, for example weekly or at the end of a reporting period.

You can revoke confirmed service outages and reprocess them.

Prerequisites

You have authorization to confirm a service outage created or maintained by the system administrator.

Procedure

Confirming a Service Outage
  1. In the Technical Administration work center, choose the Service Availability Management scenario.

  2. Select the managed object for which the data is to be reviewed (confirmed), and choose the Maintain Service Outages pushbutton.

    The managed objects whose service outages have been maintained, are displayed.

  3. Select the managed objects.

  4. To display the reasons for the outage, choose Edit.

    A dialog box appears.

  5. You have the following options:

    • To approve the service outage, set the status to Confirmed.

    • To send the service outage back to the administrator responsible for the managed objects, do the following:

      1. Set the status to In Process.

      2. In the Other Comments field, enter the reason why the administrator responsible is to recheck the service outage.

Revoking a Service Outage

You can, on request of a customer or end user, for example, revoke a confirmation:

  1. Choose the Unconfirm pushbutton.

  2. In the Other Comments field, enter the reason why the administrator responsible is to recheck the service outage.

  3. Set the status to In Process.

  4. Save your entries.
