Procedure documentationCreate Configuration Guide Locate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • You have adjusted the layout of the document to be generated, to your requirements, if necessary, in Document Management, in the SAP Solution Manager customizing (see Adjusting the Layout, below).

  • You have created an implementation project (transaction code SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN, see Project Administration).

  • You have selected the scenarios to be configured (transaction code SOLAR01, see Business Blueprint).

  • You have selected configuration structure (transaction code SOLAR02, see Configuration).

Procedure

  1. Start the transaction Configuration - SAP Solution Manager (transaction code SOLAR02).

  2. Select a project.

  3. Choose   Configuration   Create Configuration Guide  .

You go to the dialog box Configuration Guide: Selection for Project xxx.

  4. Choose what is to be in the configuration guide.

In the General tab, you can specify whether links to other projects or solutions are to be removed, separately by projects and solutions. If you set the flag Original in Project/Solution, the objects are copied into the configuration guide. If you set the flag Business Function Scope, business function information which is assigned to the project, is copied. The download directory is where the configuration guide is to be stored. Select a local directory and ensure that the complete path name is not longer than 132 characters. The system also loads all documents which are to be put in the configuration guide, in this directory.

In the Scope tab, you can specify which structure elements and documents are to be put in the configuration guide. If you set the Only with Objects flag, only structure elements to which objects are assigned, are copied. You can restrict the scope, e.g. to a specified logical component, project team member, or documentation type. With Structure, you can call the dialog box Select Substructure, and select structure elements.

    Caution Caution

The system only puts documents of structure elements in the configuration guide which you have selected explicitly, and the documents of their substructure elements. The system only assigns higher-level structure elements, not their documents (Quick Info Select Nodes Automatically). To assign documents from higher-level structure elements, choose the higher-level structure elements explicitly (Quick Info Select Nodes Manually).

    End of the caution.

In the Display Options tab, you can specify which structure element and document information is to be copied into the configuration guide for display.

  5. Choose Execute.

If there is already files in the selected download directory, the system warns that they should be deleted. You can select a different download directory. To continue the creation of the configuration guide, choose Continue.

When all files have been downloaded, the system sends a message in which the download directory is specified again.

  6. Choose Continue.

If the text processing program MS Office Word is installed in the computer, it is called with the file solarconfig.doc.

  7. Start the MS Office Word macro SAP_CONFIGURATION_GUIDE.

The macro creates the configuration guide for your project.

Adjusting the Layout

The system creates the configuration guide using the following three files:

  • config.ini

  • solarconfig.doc

  • solarconfig.dot

You can adjust these files to your requirements in the SAP Solution Manager Customizing. Choose the path:   SAP Solution Manager   Technical Settings   Document Management   Generate Documents   Adjust Configuration Guide Generation Template Files  . For more information, see the associated IMG documentation.

Embedding Files

The following file types are embedded in the configuration guides:

  • DOC: MS Word

  • RTF: MS Rich Text Format

  • TXT: Text

  • XLS: MS Word

  • PPT: MS Powerpoint

  • VSD: MS Visio

  • HTM: (HTML) Hypertext Markup Language

The programs for these files must be installed on the frontend computer. If not, the system creates hyperlinks to these files. For all other file types, e.g. PDF (Portable Document Format), the system always creates hyperlinks. See SAP Note 777089 for more information.

If you create a configuration guide, and the system creates a hyperlink to the file, instead of embedding an MS Excel file, see SAP Note 1532866.
