Purpose

You use the Customizing ID Mapping Framework in the SAP Solution Manager to exchange messages between un-harmonized systems. In un-harmonized systems, different IDs represent the same entity.

...

You want to exchange messages between un-harmonized systems via an integration server. This integration server is a component of the SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI). The integration server contains an ID mapping database, which assigns different IDs in different systems to each other. IDs are assigned to each other when they represent the same entity in different systems. The messages also refer to the customizing when exchanging messages with the integration server. The mapping needs to know which customizing IDs in a system correspond to which IDs in other systems.

The Customizing ID Mapping Framework lets you specify this information.

Customizing ID Mapping Framework: Overview

Implementation

The Customizing ID Mapping Framework is intended for IT experts, system administrators and consultants who set-up a system landscape in a project. You can use the Customizing ID Mapping Framework in the implementation project, to configure and connect un-harmonized systems.

The SAP Exchange Infrastructure 2.0 configuration guide contains further information about the SAP Exchange Infrastructure configuration, under www.service.sap.com/instguides SAP Exchange Infrastructure.

Integration

Integration server

The Customizing ID Mapping Framework uses the SAP Exchange Infrastructure integration server.

ID mapping definitions from the SAP Solution Manager are replicated in the corresponding integration server (development, quality assurance and production systems).

You must put ID types which you want use, and which are defined in the SAP Solution Manager, in the integration server in XSL format. Either use integration server tools, or edit the XSLs manually with an editor.

Note

If you use Master Data Management (SAP MDM), you can use its XSL creation tool. For further information about master data management, see SAP NetWeaver SAP Master Data Management in the SAP Library, and www.service.sap.com/instguides Installation and Upgrade Guides SAP MDM in the master data management configuration guide.

Distinction from SAP CRM Content Integrator

In contrast to the Content Integrator, the ID mapping can assign equivalent objects to each other for all customizing objects. The Content Integrator assigns master data to each other. For further information about the Content Integrator, see SAP Content Integrator in the SAP Library.

Features

You can create ID types and global ID types with the Customizing ID Mapping Framework. You can also use ID types which SAP delivers with the SAP Solution Manager (Add-On ST).

You can set-up the Customizing ID Mapping Framework for the application, with an integration server:

You can connect the integration server for the ID mapping to the SAP Solution Manager.

You can define which customizing ID types are to be exchanged between which systems, via which integration servers.

You can define ID mappings and replicate them in the appropriate integration servers.

Note

All Customizing ID Mapping Framework settings are client-specific, except for ID types and global ID types, which are cross-client.

Constraints

The Customizing ID Mapping Framework is for customizing only; it cannot map master data and other objects.

If you use one integration server for each of the development, quality assurance and production system landscapes, you may have to create the ID mappings for each system landscape separately.

The Customizing ID Mapping Framework is not integrated with the Customizing Distribution.

Caution

Do not combine Customizing Distribution and the Customizing ID Mapping Framework for a customizing object and its system. This can cause data inconsistencies. Customizing Distribution and the Customizing ID Mapping Framework are both components of the SAP Solution Manager, but they are not integrated with each other. You can either distribute a customizing object between two systems with the Customizing Distribution, or set-up ID mapping.
