To change and adjust individual productive business scenarios and processes, transfer (check out) the structure elements to a maintenance project for editing. Once you have completed your activities, return (check in) the updated structure elements to the solution.

Prerequisites

You have:

  • Defined solutions

  • Defined business scenarios or processes

  • Assigned the corresponding roles for the Solution Directory and project administration

For more information, see the SAP Solution Manager Security Guide on SAP Service Marketplace, under   http://service.sap.com/instguides   SAP Components   SAP Solution Manager <current release>  .

Process

Check-Out-/Check-In Function Using the Dual Control Principle
  1. The employee responsible for modeling business scenarios or processes would like to make changes to one or more business scenarios or processes. To do this, the relevant structure elements must be checked out of the Solution Directory to a maintenance project where they can be processed.

The project leader or administrator performs the following steps:

    1. He or she assigns a maintenance project to the solution in the solution settings. To do this, he or she selects an existing maintenance project or defines one in Project Administration by choosing Create and Assign New Project and then assigning it.

    2. He or she then activates the history and the check-out-/check-in function in the solution settings.

    3. He or she assigns employees to the project who will later make the changes in the maintenance project.

  2. The responsible project team member selects the relevant business scenarios or processes of the solution for checking out to the maintenance project.

  3. The administrator or project leader then releases the check-out of the corresponding business processes in the maintenance project for certain project team members.

  4. The project team member edits the business scenarios or processes assigned to him or her within the maintenance project.

  5. After the project team member has edited the business scenarios or processes, they are checked back in for transfer back to the solution.

  6. So that the finished business processes and scenarios can be used productively, the administrator or project leader has to confirm the action.

Check-Out-/Check-In Function without Request by a Project Team Member
  1. The employees responsible for modeling the business scenarios or processes should independently check out the change-relevant structure elements from the Solution Directory into a maintenance project intended for them.

The project leader or administrator has to perform the following steps for this:

In addition he or she sets the Check-Out-/Check-In Function Without Request indicator.

  2. The project team member can now check out the corresponding business scenarios or processes of the solution into the maintenance project independently.

  3. The project team member makes changes or adjustments to the business scenarios or processes within the maintenance project.

  4. When processing is complete, the project team member checks the changed structure elements back into the solution structure. The updated business scenarios and processes are now live.
