Background documentationUnified Job Monitoring Locate this document in the navigation structure

The new unified Job Monitoring allows you to monitor all the business-critical background jobs such as ABAP jobs and BW process chains, centrally. The ABAP jobs and/or BW process chains that you monitor are referred as monitored objects. You configure these monitored objects in a technical scenario or a business process that carries several background jobs.

Example Example

You can create a monitoring object in the Technical Monitoring work center, by creating a technical scenario which contains the technical systems to monitor.

You can create a monitoring object from an existing solution, in the Business Process Monitoring work center.

End of the example.

You monitor objects based on:

  • attributes such as job owner, job name, start time

  • time intervals

  • alert conditions

  • automatic notification or support message generation conditions

The following metrics indicate the status of the monitored object:

  • Object status – Failed, Active, Cancelled, Released

  • Scheduling metrics - schedule start time, start delay, end time, duration, out of time window

  • Job log messages
