Quality Gate Management 
Quality gate management (QGM) provides an integrated and consistent quality process for managing projects over all operational units across the various organizations of a company. This enables you to:
Monitor all software change processes and obtain full transparency of these processes
Use a project-based approach to distribute software across systems and technology stacks
Have an integrated and consistent overview of the implementation of changes to your SAP software solution
Quality gate management combines different software developments in one logical structure. These developments are in turn collected in projects. You can organize and monitor the distribution of software according to individual projects and the changes made for them.
In this way, quality gate management ensures the full transparency of all software change processes, by centrally managing the software distribution in complex system landscapes across technology stacks and application components. Technically based on the SAP Change and Transport System, quality gate management integrates the various development workbenches in one central transport and change control system. It also synchronizes the software distribution in the different software stacks.
Note
For each project, you have the option to activate the central Change and Transport System (central CTS) which provides a technical infrastructure for the enhanced flexibility functions in Change Control Management. Quality gates provide a fast entry point to obtain a project and status overview for each project. Within the overview, the time schedule for the different projects is displayed, including the ratings of the passed quality gates.
Integration
To enable quality gate management for a given project, certain information is required. This information includes the responsible quality manager, the responsible quality advisory board member, and the quality gate data.
Quality gate management is only available via the SAP Solution Manager. It is part of the Change Management work center and integrated with Change Request Management. You can access the information from the work center overview screen, or directly from the Projects view.
Features
Quality gate management controls the flow of software changes using quality gates. This gives an overview of projects and their status. Project deadlines are displayed graphically and in list form. The status of the quality gates is shown.
By default, each project comprises four phases: Scope, Build, Test and Deploy, separated by quality gates. The quality gates control the import into follow-on systems assigned to the gate. You can only import data into a follow-on system after a quality gate has been passed.
The quality manager (QM) and a member of the quality advisory board (QAB) must approve a quality gate for its overall status to be Passed. Only specified users in a company are authorized to give quality gates the status Passed.
You can also specify milestones for a project, but they only have a documentary character.
