Setup Automatic Customizing Distribution
Use
You want to flag a synchronization group in the SAP Solution Manager, for Customizing distribution. This ensures that all changes that you make in the customizing of a source system are distributed into target systems.
If you want to reconcile the customizing in a source system with the customizing in target systems, initially, before distributing customizing changes, perform an initial distribution. For more information, see Starting Initial Distribution.
Prerequisite
You have made all necessary system settings for the Customizing distribution. For more information, see Prerequisites for Customizing Distribution and Customizing Scout.
If you want to distribute Customizing in a project in the SAP Solution Manager, you have set-up a project with a system landscape, in Project Administration. The system supports Customizing distribution for implementation projects, in the SAP Solution Manager. For more information, see Project Administration.
If you want to restrict the Customizing distribution to certain Customizing objects, you have created a synchronization group, in the Synchronization Group Editor. A synchronization group is a group of Customizing objects which must be synchronized. If you do not specify a synchronization group, Customizing distribution is set up for a set of customizing objects, pre-defined by SAP, which are to be synchronized for the components in your project system landscape (synchronization objects). If you create a new distribution, you can go to the synchronization group editor or the system landscape maintenance, by double-clicking on the synchronization group or the systems.
Procedure

1. Choose Tools → Customizing → Distribution → Setup Customizing Distribution in the SAP menu, or call the transaction scdt_setup.
The system displays all synchronization groups for which Customizing distribution has been set up, and their projects.
2. Choose Create.
You go to a dialog screen, in which you can enter the Customizing distribution data.
3. If you want to restrict the distribution to certain objects, specify a synchronization group.
If you do not specify a synchronization group, all objects, which are predefined as synchronization objects by SAP, are distributed.
4. Specify:
○ Whether Customizing is to be distributed for all transport requests, which have been created for SAP Solution Manager projects, in the source system
○ Whether Customizing is to be distributed only for the transport requests for a particular SAP Solution Manager project, and specify a project name.
5. Choose a distribution type:
○ Timed Distribution: The Customizing distribution is scheduled as the job CUSTOMIZING DIST. for <project name> in the background, at the times which you specify.
○ Synchronization by Transport Release: Each time a transport request belonging to the project is released, the relevant Customizing is distributed.
○ Synchronization by Transport Changes: Each time a transport request belonging to the project is released or changed, the relevant Customizing is distributed.
6. Specify a logical system, from which the Customizing is to be distributed into the other systems, under Source System.
The SAP Solution Manager displays the system, client, RFC destination, Basis release and Support Package automatically after you specify the logical system. 7. Enter the target logical systems in the Target Systems table.
The system displays the logical systems which have been created for this project in the Project Administration of the SAP Solution Manager.
You can test the RFC destinations in your system landscape in Customizing Distribution via Goto → Test RFC Destinations.
8. If you want the customizing in the target system to be locked for changes after the customizing distribution, set the Lock Editor in Target System flag.

9. Save your entries.
Result
The system checks whether:
● All selected systems exist and are reachable
● The objects in the synchronization group are appropriate for Customizing distribution
● The required RFC connections exist
● Customizing is already distributed for this project and source system via another central system.
If the checks are passed, the Customizing distribution distributes all changes to Customizing objects in the synchronization group from the source system into the target systems (development systems only). You can now transport these Customizing changes into quality assurance and production systems by releasing the associated transport requests.
