Performing a Self-Diagnosis 
You use this procedure to determine and solve runtime or configuration errors, across SAP Solution Manager components such as functions, solutions and managed systems, by executing alert checks.
Procedure
Navigate to the System Monitoring or Solution Manager Administration work center.
In the navigation area, choose Self Diagnosis.
Perform one of the following:
Specifying Scope of Analysis
To define the scope of analysis, choose Self-Diagnosis Settings.
On the Alert Checks tab page, activate the necessary alerts.
To select the functions to be monitored, choose the Functions tab page.
Select the functions.
To select the solutions to be analyzed, choose the Solutions tab page.
Select the solutions.
To select the managed systems to be anlayzed, choose the RCA Managed Systems tab page.
Save the information, and return to the initial screen of Self-Diagnosis.
Choose Execute All to start Self-Diagnosis.
Recommendation
To prevent self-diagnosis displaying alerts for functions, solutions or managed systems, which you do not use, deselect them in the Functions, Solutions or RCA Managed Systems tab page.
Note
The daily Self-Diagnosis job executes alert checks, to analyze only functions and solutions that are active in Self-Diagnosis settings. To analyze the active managed systems, which are applicable only for Root Cause Analysis (RCA), execute alert checks in the RCA Managed Systems view.
Analyzing a Function
Choose Functions view.
Select a function for which an alert needs to be resolved.
To solve the problems indicated by the alert, perform the instructions in the Details of Alert tray.
To perform an analysis after resolving an alert, choose Execute All.
Analyzing a Solution
Choose Solutions view.
Select a solution for which an alert needs to be resolved.
Drill down to display alerts of the product systems and managed systems in the selected solution.
To solve the problems indicated by the alert, perform the instructions in the Details of Alert tray.
To perform an analysis after resolving an alert, choose Execute All.
Analyzing a Managed System
Choose RCA Managed Systems view.
Select a managed system for which an alert needs to be resolved.
To ignore a particular dependency among alerts, select the appropriate check box.
To ignore all dependencies among alerts, choose Ignore All Dependencies.
To solve the problems indicated by alerts, perform the instructions in the Details of Alert tray.
To perform an analysis after resolving an alert, choose Execute.
Result
After solving the problem, the status of the function, solution, managed system or alert check is uncritical.
