You use IT Calendar to manage the following, for technical component such as technical systems, databases, technical scenarios and logon groups, in an easy-to-use interface. You can also analyze the events for technical components for any period.

IT Calendar is integrated with Work Mode Management, Quality Gate Management and Change Request Management.

Prerequisites

You:

  • Have executed the report ITC_PULL_DATA at least once, if you have migrated from a version older than SAP Solution Manager 7.1 SP03.

    The report retrieves data from Work Mode Management.

  • Are authorized to access Work Mode Management, Quality Gate Management, Change Request Management and IT Calendar.

Activities

  1. Navigate to IT calendar.

    For more information, see Viewing Events.

  2. Plan an event in one of the following ways:

    • To plan the availability of a component, plan a work mode.

      For more information, see Planning Work Modes.

    • To plan an event or milestone, plan an IT event.

      For more information, see Planning an IT Event.

  3. If you have defined a work mode of type planned downtime, perform the following:

    1. Notify the users about the work mode.

      For more information, see Managing Notification of Work Modes.

    2. If you are not using the Technical Monitoring infrastructure, set the level of monitoring to be performed by the monitoring infrastructure.

      Technical Monitoring infrastructure pauses the alerts due to planned work modes. For more information, see Defining the Level of Monitoring.

    3. Perform the planned work mode.

      For more information, see Performing a Downtime.

  4. If you want to make changes to the planned IT event or work mode, edit your settings.

    For more information, see Editing Work Modes.

Recommendation Recommendation

To remove the records that are flagged for deletion from IT Calendar database, schedule the report program ITC_REMOVE_DELETED_EVENTS in background, periodically. This reduces data volume.
