Calling Content from BI in the
Portal
Display of Content from BI in the Portal explains which types of content from BI can be displayed. The following sections outline the various options available to users for calling and using this content.
You can call content from BI using portal roles or KM folders.
A special feature of a KM folder is the BEx Portfolio: Calling with the BEx Portfolio
When portal roles are used, you navigate using the initial navigation bar and detailed navigation. Navigation with KM folders or the BEx Portfolio, on the other hand, uses the content area of the portal desktop.
The portal offers a variety of options for communicating and collaborating with other portal users:
In collaboration rooms, groups of users can exchange context-based applications and information. Content from BI can also be included. For more information, see Working with Virtual Rooms.
Discussions enable an exchange of ideas about specific topics using a document in Knowledge Management. Using BEx Information Broadcasting, you can store BEx Web applications as precalculated documents or links in Knowledge Management. You can have discussions based on these documents and links. For more information, see Working with Forums and Discussions.
In addition to
collaboration, Knowledge Management offers various functions for working with
documents. You can add ratings, evaluations, feedback or
personal notes to documents. For more information, see
Functions for Objects
in Folders.
Notifications are particularly interesting for precalculated
documents automatically generated with BEx Information Broadcasting.
Notifications can automatically inform users about changes (such as a new
precalculation). For more information, see
Notifications for
Folders in the Universal Worklist and
Notifications.
The Business Explorer portal role (com.sap.ip.bi.business_explorer_showcase) clarifies the options for working with documents and links in Knowledge Management. For more information, see Business Explorer Portal Role.
