Procedure documentationCreating User-Specific Tasks Locate this document in the navigation structure

You can define your own tasks in addition to those tasks provided in the SAP standard task template. To build an organized task structure to meet your company’s organizational and IT-specific needs, you create task areas, which contain task groups, which contain individual tasks.

Procedure

Creating a Task
  1. In the navigation area, choose the current system <SID><installation number>.

  2. On the Define User Task Area tab, you create new task areas.

    1. Enter a name for the area.

    2. Save your entries.

  3. On the Defining User Tasks Groups tab, you create new task groups belonging to a task area.

    1. Choose a task area.

    2. Enter a name for the new task group.

    3. In the Action Type column, choose one of the following types:

      Action type

      Action

      PO System cad

      Operating system command

      Program

      Program name

      Transaction

      Transaction code

      URL

      URL

      Others

No technical activity for execution specified

      Note Note

If you do not want to assign an action, such as a transaction or URL, to the task, you can use the action type Others. In this case, the system does not generate an Execute pushbutton in the header of the generated task.

      End of the note.
    4. In the Action column, enter the action.

      Example Example

Area Description: IT Monitoring Area 01

      Group Description: Monitoring Database

      Action Type: Transaction

      Action: DBACOCKPIT

      End of the example.
    5. Save your entries.

  4. On the Assigning User Task tab, choose the user task group to which you want to assign tasks.

    1. In the User Task column, assign one or more tasks to this group.

      Example Example

Area Description: IT Monitoring Area 01

      Group Description: Monitoring Database

Task1: Check the Database Alert Section

      Task2: Check the Database Volume

      End of the example.
    2. Save your entries.

Note Note

On the URL Table tab, you can define extended URLs.

By default, the definition of a URL is limited to a length of 120 characters. If you want to start a longer URL, you can define it by 4 parts each having 120 characters. In that case, you enter the URL name you defined on the URL Table tab in the Defining User Tasks Groups tab.

End of the note.

Note Note

If you want to rename the Customer Task Area entry in the navigation area, choose the Name Customer Area tab.

End of the note.
