Procedure

The instances of a key figure can be distinguished, for example, by the following characteristics:

  • The filters used (you restrict data by system, period, or organizational unit, for example)

  • The assigned connector instance (your data is distributed among two InfoCubes, for example, because you have been using Business Process Analysis since SAP Solution Manager 7.0 EHP1 SP23, and have therefore created your key figures with reference to logical components).

To create a key figure instance, proceed as follows:

  1. Under   Setup Analytical Key Figure Instance   Analytical Key Figure Instance Overview  , choose the Add pushbutton.

    You can also remove incorrect instances from the list by selecting them and choosing Remove.

  2. In the Analytical Key Figure Instance Name field, enter a technical name that describes the analytical key figure instance as accurately as possible (such as “Deliveries Created Plant 1”).

    You cannot change the name afterwards.

    In the Analytical Key Figure Instance Description field, enter a description, for example, of the filter criteria used in this instance, the aggregation type (such as “monthly”) of the analytical key figure or data source (such as “Alerts Cube Data to 2008”).

  3. In the Analytical Key Figure Repository Name field, choose the relevant analytical key figure.

    There are more than one entries for an analytical key figure if the key figure exists in different data sources that are connected via different connector instances. Find the correct key figure by its technical name. For example, *_ACube.* stands for analytics cube, and *_ATable.* stands for alert table.

  4. In the Characteristic for Category field, enter the characteristic with which the data is to be aggregated, for example, CALMONTH to aggregate monthly or a characteristic that is specific to the key figure, such as delivery type (Delivery Type).

    Optional: Enter another characteristic in the Characteristic for Drilldown field, depending on information requirements.

    Example Example

    You want to create a stacked column chart with the number of deliveries on the Y axis. On the X axis, aggregate the data by the category characteristic for the delivery type (Delivery Type). Enter the shipping point (Shipping Point) as the characteristic for the drilldown, for example.

    The number of deliveries per shipping point is visualized in color in each bar of the chart, that is, for each delivery type. A legend for the characteristic is displayed below the chart (for the drilldown characteristic Shipping Point, the names of the shipping points, for example).

  5. You now need to select a connector instance or maintain an existing connector instance.

    • Select Connector Instance pushbutton: A dialog box appears in which you can select a connector instance.

    • Maintain Connector Instance pushbutton: The screen for data source management appears. You can also change the connector instances if required.

    • Filter characteristic (optional): You can restrict the scope of data displayed by purpose and target group, and optimize the dashboard display performance. To do this, set the relevant filter characteristics.

  6. The connector instance is displayed in the analytical key figure instance overview and can be used in a panel. You can then set filters for the solution monitoring ID (SM_SOLUT). For more information, see the links listed below.
