You install diagnostics agents which are to be EEMon robots. EEMon uses the SAP Solution Manager diagnostics infrastructure, but diagnostics agents are typically not installed on end user hosts.

Example Example

You want to set up End User Experience Monitoring for various internationally-distributed locations, for example, New York, Frankfurt and Tokio. You install a diagnostics agent on an end user host at each location.

End of the example.

Prerequisites

  • You have chosen a host which satisfies the following conditions, for example, a printer server:

    • The host is installed close to the end user so that, for example, the response times are what the end user is used to.

    • The host is never closed down, so performance can be monitored continuously, without measurement gaps.

  • You can install the agent in several ways. System Landscape Directory (SLD) Registration is usually the best choice. A Diagnostics agent is then registered automatically in Agent Candidate Management, and can be assigned to any SAP Solution Manager via SLD (switch between test and productive SAP Solution Manager).

  • You have authorization for the user SOLMAN_ADMIN.

  • You have operating system access to the hosts on which you want to install diagnostics agents.

  • To be able to replay SAPGUI scripts for EEMon, you have installed SAPGUI on the host.

Procedure

  1. Install Diagnostics agents on end user hosts. For further information about installation, see:

    • SAP Note 1234387

    • Diagnostics Agent Setup Guide in the SAP Help Portal http://help.sap.com, under   Application Life-Cycle Management   SAP Solution Manager   SAP Solution Manager in Detail   End-to-End Root Cause Analysis  .

  2. Connect the diagnostics agents to the Solution Manager:

Connect the Diagnostics agents via the Solution Landscape Directory. You can then manage them centrally.

    End of the recommendation.
    1. Call the SAP Solution Manager Administration work center.

    2. Choose Infrastructure.

    3. Choose Agent Framework.

      A screen opens.

    4. Choose Agent Admin.

    5. On the Agents tab page, choose Agent Candidate Management.

      A screen opens.

    6. Choose the Solution Manager Landscape Directory with which the diagnostics agents which are to be EEMon robots are to be connected. Choose:

      • Local SLD of Solution Manager, if you have configured a central Solution Manager Landscape Directory for your SAP Solution Manager.

      • Custom SLD Connection Parameters, if you have configured none or more than one central Solution Manager Landscape Directories for your SAP Solution Manager. Enter the connection parameters of an SLD.

    7. Choose Apply.

The diagnostics agents which could be EEMon robots, and are waiting for a connection to the SAP Solution Manager, are listed in the SLD View tab.

    8. Choose Edit.

    9. Select the hosts with the diagnostics agents which are to be EEMon robots.

    10. Save your entries.

Result

The diagnostics agents which are to be EEMon robots automatically have the user and password to connect to the SAP Solution Manager. The diagnostics agents are connected to the SAP Solution Manager. You can configure the diagnostics agents as EEMon robots.
