Procedure documentationPerforming a Self-Diagnosis Locate this document in the navigation structure

 

You use this procedure to monitor SAP Solution Manager components or solution using Self Diagnosis.

Procedure

  1. Navigate to the System Monitoring or Solution Manager Administration work center.

  2. In the navigation area, choose Self Diagnosis.

  3. Perform one of the following:

Specifying Scope of Analysis
  1. To define the scope of analysis, choose Settings.

  2. On the Alert Types tab page, activate the necessary alerts

  3. To select the functions, which are to be monitored, choose the Alert Types by Functionality tab page.

  4. Select the functions.

  5. To select the solutions, which are to be analyzed, choose the Alert Types by Solution tab page.

  6. Select the solutions.

  7. Save the information and return to the initial screen of Self Diagnosis view.

Recommendation Recommendation

To prevent self-diagnosis displaying alerts for functions or solutions, which you do not use, deselect these alert types or functions in the Alert Types by Functionality or Alert Types by Solution tab page.

Analyzing a Managing System
  1. Choose Managing System tab page.

  2. To resolve an alert depending on a functionality or solution, perform the following:

    1. To view the status of a functionality, choose Functionality Status tab page else choose Solution Status tab page.

    2. Select a functionality or solution for which an alert needs to be resolved.

    3. To ignore the dependency and execute all alerts of a functionality, skip the alerts.

      You can skip alerts only for the functionality Root Cause Analysis.

    4. In the Alert Resolution column, choose Display.

    5. Perform the instructions mentioned in the SAP Solution Manager window.

    6. To analyze whether the alert is resolved, choose Execute All.

  3. To resolve an alert based on alert group, perform the following:

    1. Select an alert.

    2. Perform the instructions mentioned on the Alert Resolution tab page.

Analyzing a Managed System
  1. Choose Managed System tab page.

  2. Select a managed system for which an alert needs to be resolved.

  3. To ignore a particular dependency among alerts, select the appropriate check box.

  4. To ignore all dependencies, choose Skip All Alerts.

  5. In the Alert Resolution column, choose Display.

  6. Perform the instructions mentioned in the SAP Solution Manager window.

  7. To perform an analysis after resolving an alert, choose Execute.

Result

After solving the problem as mentioned in the suggestion, the status of the functionality or alert is uncritical.
