You can assign projects and solutions and their structure elements, such as business scenarios, to change requests and change documents. This allows you to document the changes made in the business scenarios, processes, or process steps of a project. You can navigate directly to the assigned projects and solutions and their structure elements and edit them there.

You can create a change request from within a solution. For more information, see Creating a Change Request.

Prerequisites

  • To be able to check-in and check-out objects for solutions directly from the change request to the maintenance project, you have selected the Activate Solution Structure Element Check-Out-/Check-In checkbox on the Solution Settings tab page in the the Solution Directory for the solution.

  • To create change requests directly from within solutions, you have selected the Activate Use of Change Requests on the Solution Settings tab.

Features

  • You can assign a project and a solution in the header data of the change transaction in the Change Planning area. In the assignment blocks Project and Solution, you can add additional ones and delete existing ones as well as navigate to the projects and solutions and edit them directly.

    If you select a project assigned to just one solution using the search help, it is displayed automatically. If a project is assigned to multiple solutions, you can select the correct one.

    You can only select projects for which a maintenance cycle has been activated. For more information, see Maintenance Cycle and Processing a Maintenance Cycle.

  • You can assign normal and administrative changes, and test messages, to other projects. Choose   More   Change Project Assignment  . For further information, see Assign Changes to Other Projects.

  • In the assignment blocks Solutions and Project, you make additional assignments and delete existing ones as well as navigate to the projects and solutions and edit them directly.

    You can refine the assignment: You can select individual structure elements of a solution or project, such as business scenarios. You can also add a maintenance project.

    The system automatically transfers the selected structure objects to the assignment block and you can display the objects as a tree structure.

  • You can check out objects from solutions to the maintenance system and check them back in again.
