Process documentation Global Rollout with a Template  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

In a global rollout, you define one or more templates containing scenarios, blueprint documents, and configuration at head office.

You can decide which parts of the template are relevant to the subsidiaries, and whether, or to what extent, they can change the template in their rollout projects.

You transport the centrally-defined template to the subsidiaries. They use the template in an implementation project to implement solutions in accordance with your guidelines.

Prerequisites

You have created a template project in the Project Administration.

You have assigned a transportable package and a transport request of type “Workbench Request” to this template project.

Defining a Template in the Company Headquarters

       1.      You create one or more templates in your template project in Project Administration of the company headquarters.

       2.      You select the Global Rollout Functionality is Active indicator on the Templates tab page of Project Administration.

This means that the subsidiaries can change structures and business content from this template, within limits, in their local rollout project.

       3.      To specify whether each structure item can or must be changed by the subsidiaries, assign a value for this attribute in the business blueprint on the Structure tab page, Global Attribute column.
For more information about the effects of the attribute values on a structure item at the subsidiaries, see Global Attribute in Global Rollout.

       4.      To transfer the global attribute to the subnodes of a structure item, select it on the Structure tab page in the Business Blueprint, and choose Pass On Global Attribute.

Note

To undo inheritance of the global attribute, choose the empty row from the input help for the Global Attribute column at scenario level.

       5.      You carry out the necessary activities in the business blueprint phase, for example, assign transactions, general documentation, or business functions.

       6.      You carry out the necessary activities in the Configuration phase, for example, assign Business Configuration Sets.

       7.      If you want to implement the template in subsidiaries that have a project language other than that of the template project in the company headquarters, translate the template (see Translating a Template).

       8.      Deliver the template.

Import the Template to the Subsidiaries

...

       1.      Send the objects that you have created in the managed systems of the company headquarters from the SAP Solution Manager system to the subsidiaries’ managed systems (see Transport a Template to Another System Landscape in Using a Template).

       2.      Send the template to the subsidiaries.

       3.      Import the template to the subsidiaries (see Importing the Template into the Target Systems in Using a Template).

       4.      If the template has been changed, compare the new version of the template with the project structure and the assigned objects of your target system, and accept any necessary changes. For more information, see Compare and Adjust with Source.

Result

You have centrally created and implemented a template for the uniform configuration of head office and subsidiaries.
