Managing Supplier Master Data with Master Data Governance
You can set up a system landscape in which Master Data Governance (MDG) is the leading system, that is, the system in which supplier master data is managed centrally and is consolidated. This system is referred to as the MDG hub system
, whereas the connected back-end
systems are referred to as the MDG client systems
. Point-to-point (P2P) is used for communication between the MDG system and the buy side of SAP Supplier Lifecycle Management. Communication between the MDG system and back-end systems is MDG-specific.

The configuration steps for Master Data Governance are described in the Master Data Governance documentation available on the SAP Help Portal at http://help.sap.com
.
You have activated the following business functions:
SLC, Supplier Portfolio Management
(SMC_SUPPL_DATA_MGT_1
)
Master Data Governance, Generic Functions
(MDG_FOUNDATION
)
Business Foundation: Services for Supplier
(CA_SUPPLIER_SOA
)
Improvements for SOA Reuse Functions
(FND_SOA_REUSE_1
)

You have established communication with the MDG system using P2P.
You have checked and registered the function modules /SRMSMC/MDGS_BUPA_INBOUND
, /SRMSMC/MDGS_BUPA_OUTBOUND
, and /SRMSMC/MDGS_BUPR_INBOUND
for the inbound and outbound processing of XML messages
that are sent from the MDG system and to the MDG system. You do this in Customizing for Cross-Application Components under .
You have scheduled report Transfer Supplier Master Data (Delayed Update)
(/SRMSMC/UPDATE_FROM_CHGINFO
).
You create suppliers in MDG:
The supplier master data is transferred automatically to the buy side of SAP Supplier Lifecycle Management.
You change suppliers in MDG:
The supplier master data changes are transferred automatically to the buy side of SAP Supplier Lifecycle Management.
You create suppliers in SAP Supplier Lifecycle Management:
The supplier master data is transferred through the Distribution Cockpit.
You change suppliers in SAP Supplier Lifecycle Management:
The supplier master data changes are transferred automatically to the MDG system and to the sell side.
Note
Changes made in the MDG system are replicated to the buy-side system. In the buy-side system, the scheduled report Transfer Supplier Master Data (Delayed Update)
(/SRMSMC/UPDATE_FROM_CHGINFO
) triggers the transfer of the changed
supplier master data to the sell side.
