Procedure documentationManaging Supplier Hierarchies

You can use supplier hierarchies to represent dependencies between suppliers. You can represent supplier structures for multiple purposes, for example, for legal or management purposes.

Features
  • You can create a top-level supplier and add subordinate suppliers.

  • You can navigate directly to suppliers to view their master data.

Limitations
  • You cannot use the same supplier twice within the same supplier hierarchy.

  • You cannot add a supplier to several supplier hierarchies of the same hierarchy type.

Prerequisites

You have created the suppliers you want to use in your supplier hierarchy.

Procedure

Proceed as follows:

  1. Log on to the system as a Category Manager.

  2. Under Supplier Portfolio, click Supplier Hierarchies.

  3. Click Create to create a supplier hierarchy. A new screen is displayed.

  4. Under Basic Data, select a hierarchy type.

  5. Select the top-level supplier. You create your supplier hierarchy downwards starting with this supplier.

  6. Click Add Supplier to add as many suppliers as required below the top-level supplier. Note that if you want to delete a supplier, you also delete all subordinate suppliers.

  7. Save your changes. On the Supplier Portfolio screen, the newly created supplier hierarchy is displayed on the Hierarchies tab.
