Setting Up the Rule-Based Workflow
In SAP Master Data Governance, rule-based workflows enable you to easily define the workflow rules and make the required settings for your master data governance tasks.
In Customizing for SAP Master Data Governance, you have:
Created the change request types for which you want to specify rules.
Linked the change request type to the rule-based workflow template WS60800086.
Defined the steps used for the workflow of this change request type.
In the case of a complex workflow scenario, you have defined the service names for the BAdI implementations that are to be used for this change request type workflow.
Verified that for business object type BUS2250 and event CREATED the event linkage is set and that it was created with a Receiver Type having a blank entry. This receiver type is defined via the Receiver Type Function Module USMD_WF_RECEIVER_TYPE.
Note
The event linkage for the combination of business object type BUS2250 and event CREATED must be set only once.
Assigned each workflow task as a general task.
Select the required change request type, for example Create Material.
Assign the workflow rules for the change request type to a transport request.
If the rules for the change request have previously been assigned to this change request type, the Business Rule Framework plus (BRFplus) workbench opens directly and it is not necessary to assign the rules again.
If the rules for the change request have not previously been assigned, in the Assign Transport Request dialog box, select the relevant software component.
If the rules for the change request have not previously been assigned and are intended to be for a local object, choose the Local Object pushbutton.
The BRFplus workbench opens. The steps you have defined in Customizing are used in the BRFplus decision tables.
Define the process flow of the workflow using the BRFplus decision tables.
SAP delivers BRFplus decision tables as example content for material-related change request types. The decision tables in your system are then filled with this example content. It is also possible to define the decision tables manually.
Note
The rule-based workflow uses the following decision tables in BRFplus.
Single Value Decision Table (DT_SINGLE_VAL_<change request type>)
Non-User Agent Decision Table (DT_NON_USER_AGT_GRP_<change request type>)
User Agent Decision Table (DT_USER_AGT_GRP_<change request type>)
For more information on the BRFplus decision tables, and an example of how they are applied in Master Data Governance for material, see Rule-Based Workflows for Material.
When you have defined the process steps, save and activate the decision tables in the BRFplus.
You have defined the workflow rules for each change request type used in master data governance.
