Work Clearance Document

Definition

A WCM object in Work Clearance Management . The work clearance document:

  • Describes lockout/tagout

  • Contains technical objects of an asset, which are to be switchedor monitored in Work Clearance Management

  • Controls the physical blocking and tagging of the technical objects affected

  • Contains a detailed description of how the system should be isolated

Use

The work clearance document is the only WCM object that has items as well as header data. As items you list all the technical objects that should be processed in conjunction with a lockout/tagout. The work clearance document can contain pieces of equipment, functional locations, technical objects, which are not managed in the technical system structure, and comments.

You can do the following for each item:

There are two types of work clearance document:

  • WCD template

This is only used as a copy template for other work clearance documents.

  • Operational WCD

This is used for actually performing switching operations.

Structure

The work clearance document, like all WCM objects, has a header screen. It also has the following screens:

  • Maintenance screen

  • Switching screen (not for WCD templates)

Maintenance Screen

You can process the items on the maintenance screen.

After you have set the status PREP (Prepared) , only limited changes are possible. For example, you can no longer change the tagging condition. You can no longer delete items, but you can deactivate them as follows:

  • For WCD templates on the maintenance screen

  • For Operational WCDs on the switching screen

This ensures that no information gets lost. To add subsequent items, you must revoke the status PREP .

You can use the clipboard to copy data from other work clearance documents. You also have the option of performing a list comparison . You can use the adjust untagging function to copy the current operational conditions/types as default values for untagging.

Switching Screen

The switching screen is only available in the status PREP (Prepared) .

The individual items are switched on the switching screen. An Operational WCD can only be switched if it is prepared .

Changes are saved immediately on the switching screen.

Progress in the operational cycle is displayed in both the item and the header of the Operational WCD:

  • If all the items have the same operational status, this operational status is also displayed in the header.

  • If only one conflict was ignored during switching, this is displayed in the header.

  • If only one item has the status MOBI (Data on mobile device) , this status is displayed in the header.

    Note Note

If you use operational steps, the status is displayed in the same way as for the header of the Operational WCD.

    End of the note.

The switching screen also shows an overview of the system statuses as well as the items. Double-click to select the items.

In addition, the following symbols are displayed both on the maintenance screen and on the switching screen of the Operational WCD for your support; double-click to get a more detailed overview:

  • The tagging condition/type or untagging condition/type displayed does not match the current operational condition/type.

  • An operational protection is set, but the item is outside the protected area and cannot, therefore, be switched.

  • An operational protection is set, and the item is inside the protected area and can, therefore, be switched.

  • The printer means one of the following:

    • You have not printed any tag or test tag for the item yourself, but a tag or test tag has already been printed and is available to you

    • You have printed a tag or test tag for the item yourself, and the tag or test tag was referenced from at least one other item
