 Enhancements to Search Functions

Use

The Defense Forces & Public Security component enhances the following functions in Defense Forces & Public Security and Human Resources :

  • Enhancement of search functions

  • Enhancement of search helps

  • Enhancements to applications of the Personnel Development component

Prerequisites

You have read SAP Note 1314572 and are familiar with the information about the basic functions of some of these enhancements in Human Resources . You have also made the following component-specific Customizing settings:

  • In Customizing, under Start of the navigation path Defense Forces & Public Security Next navigation step Organizational Flexibility Next navigation step Structures Workbench Next navigation step Define Evaluation Paths for Search Functions End of the navigation path , you have defined additional evaluation paths for search functions for each object type. You have also specified which relationship statuses are to be evaluated.

    These settings replace the settings in table T77OS_EXT in Customizing for Human Resources (see SAP Note 1314572).

  • In Customizing, under Start of the navigation path Defense Forces & Public Security Next navigation step Organizational Flexibility Next navigation step Structures Workbench Next navigation step Specify Transactions for Search Functions End of the navigation path , you have specified the transactions in which these evaluation paths are to be used. You have also specified which object statuses are to be determined.

    These settings replace the settings in table T77OS_TRX in Customizing for Human Resources (see SAP Note 1314572).

The system activates the OSEXT OSEXT switch (see SAP Note 1314572) in table T77S0 automatically.

To enhance the search helps , you have selected the required search helps in Customizing by choosing Start of the navigation path Defense Forces & Public Security Next navigation step Organizational Flexibility Next navigation step Structures Workbench Next navigation step Include Additional Search Helps End of the navigation path .

Features

Search Functions

The following enhancements are available:

  • Enhancement of structure search in Human Resources applications

    • You now also have the evaluation paths defined in Customizing available for the structure search. Thus, for example, you can search for objects using the component-specific structures (such as operation or exercise structures).

  • Enhancement of search functions in the object manager (the object manager is a search tool that is integrated into numerous Human Resources applications)

    • The object manager contains the mentioned structure search enhancements.

    • In addition, the evaluation paths defined in Customizing are also available in the object manager when searching using a search term.

    • In both cases, the search can determine objects that have a status that is not Active .

Search Helps

In transactions of the components Defense Forces & Public Security and Human Resources , you can include additional search helps for each HR object type. The system displays the additional search helps that you included using Customizing in the respective application in the search dialog box with the Structure Search .

Personnel Development

The following enhancements are available:

  • Change Profile application (transaction PPPM)

    • In the header area of the application, the system displays the status of the object currently selected.

    • On the tabs Requirements and Requirement Blocks , the system displays the status of the relationship. When creating a relationship, this field is ready for input.

  • Find Objects for Requirements application (transaction PPQ2)

    • You can use the enhanced structure search to limit the person subgroup to be synchronized.

    • Alternatively, you can specify a period in addition to a key date.
