 Account Management

Purpose

You can use this component for the following functions:

  • Post internal payment transactions between accounts managed in Bank Customer Accounts (BCA).

  • Post payment transactions to other systems or other subledgers within the same bank. You must connect to an external payment transaction system for further processing of such transactions.

Features

  • Payment Orders and Payment Items

The system differentiates between payment orders and payment items when processing payment transactions:

Payment orders are orders from internally initiated payment transactions that consist of one ordering party item and one or more recipient positions. For more information, see Payment Order .

Payment items are one-sided turnovers that update an account. For more information, see Payment Item .

  • Transaction Type

The transaction type describes the business operation on which the payment item or order is based. The transaction type, for example, specifies if the account is debited or credited and controls the checks that the system must execute before creating the payment transaction.

  • Internally and Externally Initiated Payment Transactions

The system differentiates between payment transactions that are internally initiated and those that are externally initiated.

    • Payment transactions that are internally initiated include all payment orders and payment items entered and triggered within the current BCA system.

In these payment transactions, you can depict domestic and foreign payment orders entered in the dialog, standing orders, returns, and goodwill postings. These transactions also include balancing postings and other internal system postings.

    • Payment transactions that are externally initiated include all transactions triggered outside the current BCA system. These transactions reach BCA by means of the connected system for payment transactions and are posted in BCA as payment items. External payment transactions include, for example, bank transfers, check (PF) deposits, and check (PF) debits.

The following graphic illustrates payment transactions that are externally and internally initiated:

  • Customer Fields

You can define your own descriptions and default values for some fields on payment transaction screens. Make these settings in Customizing for BCA by choosing Start of the navigation path Account Management Next navigation step Basic Functions in Account Management Next navigation step Maintain Field Label for Customer Fields End of the navigation path and Maintain Default Value for Customer Fields . The system stores these character fields in system defined tables and also displays them on bank statements.

Furthermore, you can add new fields to payment transaction screens by using the Business Add In (BAdI) Add Customer Fields on Payment Transaction Screens. The system displays the new fields on a separate tab page Customer Data on the payment transaction screens .

  • Payment Notes

You can enter additional information on payment transaction screens by using payment notes. Furthermore, you can categorize this information by using structured payment notes. You can, for example, use structured payment notes to store information required by the rules ofSingle Euro Payments Area (SEPA). To use structured payment notes, you must first define the payment notes categories in Customizing for BCA by choosing Start of the navigation path Basic Settings Next navigation step Basic Settings – Postings Next navigation step Define Payment Notes Categories End of the navigation path .
