Additional Details

Pricing based on Segmentation

The standard condition technique for both sales and purchasing documents has been enhanced with segmentation fields. When you want to perform pricing for the document item using the segmentation value you entered in the document, you should use the segmentation-specific condition types in the documents. You can only maintain condition records for a segmentation value that is relevant for pricing.

In addition to the existing standard condition type, condition table, access sequence, and pricing procedure available for the sales documents and purchasing documents, SAP delivers segmentation-specific condition type, condition table, access sequence, and pricing procedure. You can use these conditions appropriately wherever needed. When you create sales documents or purchasing documents, the system determines the pricing according to the segmentation value you entered in the document.

For more information about the pricing in application documents, see

Segmentation within Subcontracting Process

The subcontracting process (either starting in purchasing through a purchase requisition, purchase order or – in case of ‘external operations’ – triggered out of a production order) is enhanced to handle the materials that are relevant for segmentation. Depending on whether the header material and/or the components of a subcontracting Bill of Material (BOM) are relevant for segmentation, the respective requirements initially either come from the segmentation strategy configuration or from the BOM itself. All follow-on process steps such as provisioning of stock to the subcontractor, component consumption considers the segmentation logic according to what is configured within the segmentation strategy.

For more information about segmentation in subcontracting, see Segmentation: Subcontracting.

Segmentation in Handling Unit Management (HUM)

You can use Handling Unit Management (HUM) to reflect packing-based logistics structures in the SAP System. Using this method, you track the movements of entire handling units (HU's) and the material they contain rather than tracking each material individually. HUM is now enabled to process materials that are relevant for segmentation in the following areas:

  • Inbound and Outbound business processes supported for HUs on segmentation level

  • Internal processes with HUM enabled on segmentation level, for example goods movement/transfer posting supported for HUs

  • Integration of HUM with Warehouse Management (WM) and inventory management

  • Integration of HUM with inbound and outbound delivery

  • Packing/unpacking at packing station

Furthermore shipment based HUs are enabled to handle materials that are relevant for segmentation. Interfaces for Inbound/Outbound Delivery Processing using IDOCs and BAPIs with HUs are enabled with material segmentation.

For more information about segmentation in handling unit management, see Handling Unit Management.

Segmentation based EAN Numbers

Article Master has been enhanced to store the EAN Number for the segmentation value. You can maintain multiple EAN numbers for a single segmentation value similar to the existing behavior in standard SAP ERP.

In sales order, the system determines the EAN number for the combination of an article, Unit of Measure (UoM), and requirement segment. If you have maintained multiple EAN numbers for segmentation value in article master, the system selects the main EAN entry which you have maintained for the article. If you change requirement segment of the document item, the system redetermines the EAN number accordingly. This behavior is similar in delivery documents and the purchasing documents; however the difference is that this is influenced by the stock segment instead of requirement segment. If you have maintained multiple EAN numbers for the segmentation value in article master, in purchasing documents the system selects the EAN number which is marked as Vendor Main. If you have maintained multiple EAN numbers for the segmentation value in article master, in delivery documents the system selects the EAN number which is marked as main EAN.

For more information about segmentation based EAN numbers, see Segmentation Based EAN in SAP Help Library.

MRP Area

You can assign the various MRP areas to the materials that are relevant segmentation in material master. For this, you create an MRP area segment for a material for every MRP area, in which it is used.

In this MRP area segment, you can define MRP parameters such as, the lot size or MRP type. This allows you to plan the materials with segmentation differently in the MRP area from how you plan it in the plant MRP area.

  • The system supports MRP area for materials that are relevant for segmentation in MRP Live (MD01N).

  • You can view the stock/requirements situation for materials relevant for segmentation in transaction MD04 for the selected MRP area.

For more information about MRP areas, see MRP Area.

Segment Level MRP Data

You can maintain the following MRP relevant parameters for the individual segments of the material in material master.

  • Minimum Lot Sizes

  • Safety Stock

  • Safety Time Indicator

  • Valid From (applicable for AT/MRP Status)

  • Rounding Value

  • Purchasing Group

  • Safety Time

  • Planned Delivery Time

  • In-house Production Time

  • Total Replenishment Lead Time

  • ATP/MRP Status for Material and Segment

For more information about segment level MRP data, see Segment Level MRP Data.

Availability Check (ATP)

The availability check with segmentation is enabled in the following additional processes:

  • Creating or changing production orders

  • Creating or changing planned orders

You can control the ATP behavior for the individual segmentation value using specific settings in the material master. You can maintain NO RLT for few of the segmentation values by selecting No RLT value in the ATP/MRP Status column (of Segment level MRP Data). The system does not consider the replenishment lead time for these values during availability check.

For more information about segmentation in availability check, see Segmentation: Availability Check.

Effects on Existing Data

The transaction SGT_MAINTAIN_VALT is not supported for business function LOG_SEGMENTATION_03 and above. Use the transaction SGT_MAINTAIN_VALN for business function LOG_SEGMENTATION_03 and above.

Effects on Customizing

The following Business add-In (BAdI) is created:

  • BADI_SGT_EAN_VAL_SEG_SD: You can use the fallback implementation of this BAdI to propose the segmentation value relevant for EAN number when EAN Numbers are entered in the sales documents and material is determined through material determination.
