Business Function Requiring Activation in Addition

Not relevant

You can use this business function to enhance the production planning and execution functionality of the SAP ERP system in the lean manufacturing environment. The business function provides interfaces and Customizing settings that you can use to integrate SAP Lean Planning and Operations (SAP LPO) into the planning and execution processes of the SAP ERP system.

When you activate this business function, two Customizing entries are available that you can set. The new programming interfaces use these Customizing entries to download and transfer data between SAP ERP and SAP LPO. Existing production planning and execution processes in ERP remain unchanged by the activation of this business function.

This business function reduces the implementation effort of integrating SAP LPO with SAP ERP. This enables you to leverage and build upon SAP ERP components, such as master data and parts of the transactional data, thereby enhancing the lean manufacturing capabilities.

Prerequisites

To use the extended planning functionality of SAP LPO:

  • You have set up an integration landscape that includes SAP MII and SAP LPO. The landscape allows you to incorporate the data provided by the interfaces or provide them with the required data. SAP ERP will only provide the interfaces to support these integrated planning processes.

  • Within the integration landscape that you have set up, you have implemented the production planning and execution processes to work with the new interfaces.

  • You have installed SAP LPO Release 6.0 for the integration into ERP because it provides the appropriate tools and functions to set up the integration landscape.

  • In SAP MII, you have maintained the system connections that enable the appropriate ERP installation to be connected to an LPO instance.

  • In the SAP LPO Integration Cockpit, you have maintained the Integration model. You do this by specifying the work centers and material that are controlled by SAP LPO. You have also specified the related master data objects, such as BOMs and routings, that are to be exchanged for this purpose.

Features

  • Integration Layer:

SAP MII, which is delivered along with SAP LPO, is used as an integration layer in the appropriate integration scenario.

  • Integration Cockpit:

A new application called LPO Integration Cockpit will be available with SAP LPO 6.0. This application enables the set up, control and monitoring of the integration with SAP LPO. It enables you to select the relevant master data and transactional data from the SAP ERP system and transfer the same to the SAP LPO system.

  • Integrated Planning Cycle:

In an integrated system landscape, the integrated planning cycle works as follows:

    • Master data, demand, tracking transactions, and inventory adjustments are sent from SAP ERP to SAP LPO.

    • A leveled production plan is sent from SAP LPO to SAP ERP on a daily basis.

    • The Material Requirement Planning (MRP) engine uses the production plan to compute the supplier plan.

  • Data Transfer and Data Format Mapping:

You can use SAP MII background jobs scheduled in the Integration Cockpit to transfer data from one system to another. During this process, the background jobs map the SAP ERP data formats to the SAP LPO data formats.

  • Selection Rules:

The Customizing entries specify two selection rules for the Stock/Requirements List:

    • SAPLPO01– SAP XLPO Requirements

This selection rule considers the different MRP elements for requirements. Receipts and stock elements are not considered.

    • SAPLPO02 - SAP XLPO Stocks

This selection rule considers the different stock categories. Receipts and requirements are not considered.
