You can use business function Data Archiving: Standardization of Archiving Objects - Retail/Agency Business (DA_ARCHOBJ_STANDARD_3) to utilize the archiving objects that have standardized write and delete programs (with respect to their properties and usage).

This business function documentation supplements the documentation for the respective archiving objects, with information about the standardization.

The standardization ensures that the write and delete programs of the adjusted archiving objects have the same basic functions; this harmonizes their handling. Archiving projects in which these archiving objects are used can then be structured more efficiently, and proceed faster.

Note Note

In the case of some archiving objects, other improvements and enhancements have been made, in addition to the changes to the write and delete program. See SAP Note 577847 for an overview of possible changes.

End of the note.

Prerequisites

  • You have installed the following software components as of the version mentioned:

    • SAP_BASIS 701

    • SAP_ABA 701

    • SAP_APPL 604

  • You have activated the available business function in your back-end system.

When you activate this business function, a Switch BC Set ensures that the new write and delete programs of the standardized archiving objects are entered in transaction AOBJ. The old write and delete programs can then no longer be used. When this business function is activated, the programs of all archiving objects contained in the Switch BC Set are transferred; it is not possible to select individual archiving objects.

  • You have adjusted the test mode variant and the production mode variant for the delete programs in transaction AOBJ, after activation. This is necessary for the functionality of the respective archiving objects.

Features

The standardized archiving objects differ from the non-standardized archiving objects by means of the following new or changed characteristics:

  • Selection screen of the write program

On the selection screen of the write program, in group box Processing Options, you can define whether the program should be started in test mode or production mode. For more information, see Variant Maintenance for Archiving Jobs.

In the section for logging settings, you can define the type of log that is output (complete detail log or partial log), as well as the log output. In addition, you can enter a note about the archiving session. For more information, see Logs.

The selection screen follows a consistent structure, so that the user of one write program can quickly find his or her way around another.

  • Interruptibility of the write program

The write program is able to process an interruption instruction.

  • Selection screen of the delete program

The selection screen of the delete program corresponds to the standard selection screen for delete programs.

The following standardized archiving objects of the SAP applications mentioned (if used by you) are made available by this business function:
