With this feature you can maintain free characteristics in purchase contracts and purchase orders at item level. You define them in the classification system, and can then use them to set up integrated HANA-based position reporting and MtM reporting in SAP TRM based on a book structure:
Free characteristics can be assigned to characteristics in the analysis structure in SAP TRM.
When purchase contracts and purchase orders are created or changed, free characteristics values can be transferred to commodity raw exposures and subsequent reporting structures in SAP TRM.
The same holds for goods receipts that have been created with reference to a purchase order containing free characteristics.
You can set up HANA-based reporting on commodity positions and MtM to evaluate free characteristics values from purchase documents as well as the corresponding characteristic values from the analysis structures as used in derivative contracts in SAP TRM.
