Integration

The ILM Archiving Work Center replaces most of the features in transaction SARA from the previous Data Archiving. However, Data Archiving is still available via transaction SARA. Features

ILM Archiving Work Center

With the web-based ILM Archiving Work Center, you get the most important information about your archiving objects at a glance and direct access to the relevant archiving functions. In the ILM Archiving Work Center, the following functions are available:

  • Personal Object Worklist: Create active requests for archiving objects relevant to your work. The POWL offers key information for the relevant archiving objects at a glance, such as the overall status of archiving objects and the status of the last session, for example, for interrupted or incomplete sessions. You can link from the POWL to archiving actions and archiving administration and the job overview.

  • Data Archiving: Execute the archiving actions Write Data, Delete Data, Store Archiving File and – depending on the archiving object – Start Preprocessing and Start Postprocessing. For the Write Data action, you can select an existing variant and edit it. You can enter a note to the write session and schedule jobs. Detailed information about each job can be given by the job log, spool list, and application log. Depending on Customizing, the actions can be executed automatically or started manually.

  • Administration: Monitor the status of all existing archiving sessions and quickly determine why jobs were terminated with tools such as the job overview and application log. You get an overview of existing archiving sessions and their status, which you can also change. You can filter by time periods to get a selection of specific archiving objects. For each archiving session, you can edit a note and obtain enhanced information about the used variant.

For a specific data archiving analysis, data archiving experts can still use the transaction SARA.

ILM Reporting Work Center

The data archiving reporting functions are now available in new web-based views. A holistic view of the top, fastest growing tables helps in determining the next steps in archiving. After archiving the data, you can also view the statistics on archived data. You can view the data both in graphical views and table views. In the reporting work center, the following functions are available:

  • Customizing Display Settings: Using transaction IRWCCUST, you can customize the size limit for the tables, and specify the number of tables and archiving objects to be displayed. You can also enable the display of savings unit per MB in the Archiving Statistics report. As part of Customizing, you can exclude tables that do not need to be considered during reporting.

Top N Tables: You can analyze data for tables and their indexes to determine the top N list of tables based on their size or growth. For a selected table, you can view the size and the associated archiving objects.

  • Top N Archiving Objects: You can analyze data for archiving objects including the relevant tables to determine the top N list of archiving objects based on their size or growth. For a selected archiving object, you can view the size and the associated tables. You can also navigate to Archiving Work Center to perform the archiving functions.

  • Archiving Statistics Report: You can run the archiving statistics report for a specific time interval to view the following:

    • Size of archived data

    • Size of deleted data

    • Savings unit per MB due to deletion of database tables
