Function documentationChanging the Notification Type

This function enables you to make Customizing settings that allow the notification type to be changed when users create and change maintenance notifications on the SAP Web UI for Plant Maintenance.

Prerequisites

You have activated the business function Simplified Management of EAM Functions 5 (LOG_EAM_SIMPLICITY_5).

You can allow the notification type of maintenance notifications to be changed if the original notification type and the target notification type have the same notification category. You allow this in Customizing for Plant Maintenance and Customer Service under Start of the navigation path Maintenance and Service Processing Next navigation step Maintenance and Service Notifications Next navigation step Notification Creation Next navigation step Notification Types Next navigation step Define Allowed Changes of Notification Type End of the navigation path. In the SAP standard configuration, you can allow the change between the following notification types of notification category PM Notification:

  • Maintenance Requests (M1)

  • Malfunction Reports (M2)

  • Activity Reports (M3)

Note Note

In Customizing, you can basically also allow the change between notification types of notification category Service Notification. Working with service notifications is, however, not supported on the SAP Web UI for Plant Maintenance.

End of the note.

Features

If you use Customizing settings to allow the notification type to be changeable, you can change the assigned notification type when creating or changing maintenance notifications on the Web UI. To assign a different notification type, choose Start of the navigation path Additional Functions Next navigation step Change Notification Type End of the navigation path and enter the new notification type in the popup. The input help only contains the notification types that you have allowed in Customizing.

In addition, you can only change the notification type of maintenance notifications if the notification has not yet been completed.

When the notification type is changed, the system does not assign a new notification number and all data of the original notification type is retained (such as reference objects). This also applies even if specific data is irrelevant for the target notification type. To override this behavior, implement the Business Add-In (BAdI) Checks for Extended Change of Notification Type (BADI_IQS0_NOTIF_TYPE_CHANGE).

Note Note

If you wish to be able to change the notification type on the Web UI, you have to allow the change of notification types in the SAP GUI transactions as well (iw21, iw22, iw51, and iw52). To do this, activate the business function Enterprise Asset Management Part 7 (LOG_EAM_CI_7).

End of the note.
