Before you can archive Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) messages, a predefined retention period must have expired. You can define the retention period in Customizing under  SAP Utilities Tools Archiving Define Retention Period for Archiving Objects .

You can filter the messages to be archived using the Business Add-In (BAdI) ISU_AMI_MSG_ARCHIVE. For more information, see the BAdI system documentation.
