 Posting Subrogation/Recovery Receivables

Use

You can post a subrogation/recovery receivable directly to the collections and disbursements system. However, you also have the option of parking subrogation/recovery receivables in collective subrogation/recovery processing, and posting them to the collections and disbursements system some time later. For more information, see Parking Payments.

Parking Subrogation/Recovery Receivable

  1. Set the Parked indicator.

    When you create a new subrogation/recovery receivable, this indicator is set by default.

    The subrogation/recovery receivable is given the status To Be Parked. For more information, see Status of Subrogation/Recovery Receivable.

    As long as the subrogation/recovery receivable has the status To Be Parked, you can continue to process it. For example, you can add other items or delete existing items. For more information, see Generating Subrogation/Recovery Receivables from Payment Item of Subclaims and Creating Subrogation/Recovery Receivables Manually.

  2. When you have entered all items of the subrogation/recovery receivable, you can post the subrogation/recovery receivable at a later point in time.

Posting Subrogation/Recovery Receivables to Collections/Disbursements System

  1. Check that you have entered all items of a subrogation/recovery receivable.

  2. Remove the Parked indicator.

  3. Save your entries.

Result

The following describes what happens when you post the subrogation/recovery receivable to the collections and disbursements system:

  • The system posts all items of the subrogation/recovery receivable to the collections and disbursements system.

  • You are then unable to make any changes to the subrogation/recovery receivable.

  • The subrogation/recovery receivable is given the status Requested.

  • In the Doc.Ref field the system displays the document number from the collections and disbursements system.

  • You can navigate to the document view.

    To do so, double click the document number in the Doc. Ref field.

  • Once cash has been received, you can have the collections and disbursements system report this back to SAP Claims Management. For more information, see Reporting Cash Receipts to Claims Management System.

  • If necessary, you can then reverse or write off the subrogation/recovery receivable.

    Note Note

    Once the full cash receipt, or part of it, has been reported back, you cannot reverse the receivable. You can only write off the remainder.
