 Creating Settlement for Collection Subrogation/Recovery

Use

You can create as many settlements as you like for each paying party that you have entered. Each settlement contains just one subrogation/recovery receivable and is valid for a certain period.

Prerequisites

In the collective subrogation/recovery you have entered at least one business partner in the participant role of Payer.

Procedure

  1. In collective subrogation/recovery processing, choose the Settlements tab page.

  2. Choose with the quick info text Create Settlement.

  3. Enter the following data in the Settlement Details section:

    • Enter the payer.

      Note the following:

      • If you only created one payer on the Overview tab page, the system automatically transfers this payer.

      • If you created multiple payers on the Overview tab page, choose the corresponding payer for this settlement.

    • Enter the settlement period.

If, at a later stage, you have the system automatically generate the subrogation/recovery items from the payment items of the assigned subclaims (see Generating Subrogation/Recovery Receivables from Payment Items of Subclaims), the payment uses the settlement period specified here.

The following is valid for the settlement period:

      • Start date:

If you want to use all payments for which no subrogation/recovery has been created yet, you can leave the Payments From field empty.

Otherwise, enter the required start date.

      • End Date:

Enter the required end date in the Payments To field (this is a required field).

The system displays the current date as the default value.

    • Recovery Claim Type

By default the system takes the recovery claim type of the collective subrogation/recovery (this is the recovery claim type that you entered on the Overview tab page; see Creating Collective Subrogation/Recovery, step 4).

However, you can enter a different recovery claim type for the settlement if you want.

      Note Note

Once you have entered the settlement details, you can hide this section. To do so, choose with the quick info text Do Not Display Details. To display the details again, choose with the quick info text Display Details.

      End of the note.
  4. Save your entries.

Result

  • The system displays all settlements for a collection subrogation/recovery in the Settlement Overview section. The fields displayed are not editable.

  • You can enter just one subrogation/recovery receivable with the relevant items in each settlement.

    For more information, see:

  • As long as you have not created and saved any subrogation/receivable item for the settlement (in other words the settlement has the status No Claim Made), you can process the settlement data in the Settlement Details section as follows:

    • You can change the settlement data.

    • You can delete the settlement.

      To do so:

      1. Mark the settlement.

      2. Choose with the quick info text Delete Settlement.

As soon as you have created and saved subrogation/recovery receivable items for the settlement, you can no longer change or delete the settlement data.

  • As soon as you use a payer in a settlement, you can no longer delete this person in the participants list on the Overview tab page.

Example

If you make payments for which another cost carrier is ultimately liable, it makes sense to create periodic settlements for this payer.
