Function documentationPM Side Panels: SAP 3D Visual Enterprise

The SAP 3D Visual Enterprise (BSSP_SP_VISUAL_ENTERPRISE) side panel enables you to visualize technical objects, spare parts, and instructions in the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer. 2D and 3D model views as well as animated scenes make critical maintenance processes such as finding the spare parts you need and carrying out instructions quicker and easier. You can also display the assigned RH files as thumbnails.

For more information, see SAP Note 1816377Information published on SAP site.

Prerequisites

You have integrated the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer in your system and have made the appropriate Customizing settings. For more information about the required Customizing settings, see Spare Parts Selection.

To be able to display 3D model views with the SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer in the side panel, you must also make the following settings in Customizing for Cross-Application Components under Start of the navigation path Document Management Next navigation step Visual Enterprise Generator Next navigation step Define Search Sequence for Viewable File End of the navigation path: Assign the viewing application Viewer and the workstation application RH for the usage PM to the object links of the SAP objects EQUI (Equipment), IFLOT (Functional Location), MARA (Material Master), PMAUFK (Maintenance Order), and PMPLKO (Maint. Task List) with document type SP (Spare Part) or VI (Visual Instructions).

If you want to display thumbnails in the side panel, create an additional data record for the above-mentioned SAP objects and assign the viewing application Thumbnail and a suitable workstation application (such as gif or jpg).

The corresponding authorization roles are assigned to the users. For information about the relevant side panel roles and further prerequisites, see Working with Side Panels in Plant Maintenance.

In the side panel, you have chosen the pushbutton Call Page in Customizing Level and in the Settings for the relevant CHIPs, you have entered the usage PM.

Features

The following CHIPs are on this side panel:

  • SAP 3D Visual Enterprise Viewer (DMS_CHIP_VIEWER)

  • Thumbnails (DMS_CHIP_THUMBNAIL)

When the system searches for document info records with files that have been assigned the viewing application Spare Part or Visual Instructions in Customizing, it only considers document info records whose RH files have been checked in. If there is more than one version of a document, the system uses the most current version. In the side panel, the system only displays document info records that are assigned at header level and whose assignment has already been saved.

Logic for Finding Document Info Records for Technical Objects:

The system first searches for documents that have been assigned to the functional location or equipment at header level. If it does not find any, it displays documents that have been assigned to the construction type of the functional location or equipment.

Logic for Finding Document Info Records for Task Lists or Maintenance Orders:

The system checks the available document assignments that match the Customizing settings in the following sequence:

  • Document info records that are directly assigned to the order header or task list header

  • Document info records that are assigned to the assembly of the order header or task list header

  • Document info records that are assigned to the equipment of the order header or task list header

  • Document info records that are assigned to the construction type of the equipment of the order header or task list header

  • Document info records that are assigned to the functional location of the order header or task list header

  • Document info records that are assigned to the construction type of the functional location of the order header or task list header

Logic for Finding Document Info Records for Maintenance Plans

The system first looks for document info records that are assigned to the relevant task list. It checks for existing document assignments in the sequence described above. If there are no documents assigned to the task list, the system checks if there are documents assigned directly to the technical objects (assembly, equipment, construction type of equipment, functional location, construction type of the functional location).

Logic for Finding Document Info Records for Notifications:

The system checks the available document assignments that match the Customizing settings in the following sequence:

  • Document info records assigned to the notification at header level

  • Document info records assigned to the assembly

  • Document info records assigned to the equipment at header level

  • Document info records assigned to the construction type of the equipment

  • Document info records assigned to the functional location at header level

  • Document info records assigned to the construction type of the functional location
