Function documentationOrder Balancing Profiles and Order Balancing Groups

You use these objects to control order balancing optimization (order balancing), which you use to distribute the order proposal quantity equally.

Order balancing distributes requirements for a location product to the order balancing week automatically. You can define the order balancing week freely, for example, from Wednesday to Tuesday. In order to avoid logistical bottlenecks at weekends, for example, in both the source location and destination location, you can distribute the requirements of a week over the individual goods receipt days of the week for the destination location. The diagram below illustrates requirement quantity distribution before and after order balancing.

Note Note

End of the note.

You cannot shift requirements into the future, for example, if you have increased requirements on the first day of the order balancing week, you cannot distribute the increase to the subsequent days.

Integration

  • You assign the order balancing profile to an order balancing group.

  • You assign the order balancing group to a location product in the master data. To do so, go to the SAP Easy Access screen and choose Start of the navigation path Forecasting and Replenishment Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Product Next navigation step Maintain Location Products End of the navigation path.

Features

Order Balancing Profile
  • You can configure the basic settings for order balancing in the order balancing profile.

  • Depending on which order balancing type you configure, the system can distribute the order proposal quantities of each individual location product or the entire proposal quantity of all location products contained in an order balancing profile equally along an order balancing week.

  • You can select the relevant order proposals for order balancing with regard to the planning date, delivery date, or delivery date, and you can specify how many order balancing weeks are considered in the order balancing horizon.

    Example Example

Three location products have been ordered on the planning date. One of them has its delivery date in week 1, another in week 3, and the last one in week 4. The order balancing horizon is three weeks and the delivery date is the reference date for order balancing. The system carries out order balancing for weeks 1 and 3 (SAP F&R balances the quantity of all the goods receipts that belong to weeks 1 and 3). The location product with delivery date in week 4 is not included in order balancing, because the goods receipt lies outside the order balancing horizon.

    End of the example.
Order Balancing Group

You can create and maintain order balancing groups to perform order balancing according to the same rules for several location products. During automatic replenishment, SAP F&R distributes the order proposal quantities of these location products across an order balancing week.

Activities

  • You create the order balancing profile in Customizing. For more information, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) of Forecasting and Replenishment under Start of the navigation path Requirement Quantity Optimization Next navigation step Maintain Order Balancing Profiles End of the navigation path.

  • To maintain order balancing groups, go to the SAP Easy Access screen and choose Start of the navigation path Forecasting and Replenishment Next navigation step Requirement Quantity Optimization Next navigation step Maintain Balancing Groups End of the navigation path.
