The following section describes the consequences that transportation lanes have on vehicles (in other words, vehicle resources for which you have not set the Passive indicator for the related means of transport) without a schedule. It includes an example. These restrictions do not apply to schedule vehicles.

If a vehicle with means of transport 'truck' transports a sales order from A to B, then you must define a transportation lane from A to B for the defined validity period for the means of transport  truck. It is not sufficient that you have defined the transportation lanes A C B. The optimizer will not combine these to create the transportation lane A to B.

 This is also the case if you want to deliver one order from A to C and one order from A to B. Here too, it is not sufficient that you have defined the transportation lanes A C B. The order can only be delivered from A to B if you have defined a transportation lane from A to B.

In the following case, we also recommend that you define a direct transportation lane between A and B: You want to deliver an order from A to B. There is no direct transportation lane defined between A and B but there is a transfer location. The order can only be delivered if it is transferred at the transshipment location. To avoid unnecessary loading and unloading at a transshipment location, if an order is shipped in a single vehicle on both stages of the shipment, we recommend defining a direct transportation lane.
