When a planned order in converted in SAP APO the dates of the planned order are copied to the R/3 manufacturing order.
You should trigger the conversion of planned orders in SAP APO.
We do not recommend conversion in SAP R/3 because there are constraints involved with this process.
In SAP APO, define the transfer of APO planned orders to
SAP R/3
(Customizing for
Advanced Planning and Optimization
under

→
Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS)
→

).
The following section describes the different types of conversion that are possible.
Planned orders that have been generated in
Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling
(PP/DS) are converted into manufacturing orders from SAP APO.The production dates determined in SAP APO are copied to the manufacturing order.
The conversion is triggered in SAP APO so that as a result a planned order is converted in both systems.
The planned order is transferred to SAP R/3 with a conversion indicator. The following situations are possible:
If the planned order already exists in SAP R/3 the R/3 planned order is converted into a manufacturing order.(See Conversion from SAP APO with R/3 Planned Order ).
If the planned order does not exist in SAP R/3 or a BOM explosion is forced, a new manufacturing order is created in SAP R/3. (See Conversion from SAP APO Without R/3 Planned Orders and Conversion from SAP APO with Forced BOM Explosion ).
For more information see Conversion of Planned Orders from SAP APO .
During the conversion the system first determines the order type and order category.(See Determination of Order Type and Order Category )
The system does not display a dialog nor does it allow you to terminate the conversion.Dates from the APO order are copied exactly to the R/3 production order.(See SAP Note 382385 –
Restrictions During Planned Orders Conversion from APO
).
If you work with the component
Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling
(PP/DS) in SAP APO, SAP recommends that you do trigger the conversion in SAP APO and not in SAP R/3.
When the conversion takes place no detailed dates are known in SAP R/3 because the R/3 planned order only copies the start and end date from SAP APO.This means that no detailed dates can be copied to the manufacturing order. The result of this is that the detailed dates for the operations determined by SAP APO are lost when the planned order is converted in SAP R/3. In addition, changes to work centers that you have made in SAP APO are also lost.
Planned order conversion in SAP R/3 is not recommended.SAP recommends that you carry out conversion in SAP APO.
When you trigger the conversion of the planned order from SAP APO in SAP R/3 then SAP R/3 copies the components of the planned order to the manufacturing order and explodes the routing.
When the manufacturing order is saved, the system deletes the planned order in SAP R/3 and creates the manufacturing order. The deleted planned order and the created manufacturing order are automatically transferred to SAP APO.
SAP APO then deletes the planned order and creates a manufacturing order.
In direct production in
SAP R/3
, orders are collected by means of the special procurement key (
Collective Order
) in the material master.
SAP APO
does not know these collective orders, since orders in an R/3 collective order are created independently of each other during integration in
SAP APO
.
You cannot convert planned orders in
SAP APO
for the following reasons:
SAP APO
does not know the planned collective order.
Planned collective orders can only be converted to manufacturing orders as a whole.
Individual planned orders that are part of a collective order cannot be converted in
SAP APO
.
Attempting to convert them from
SAP APO
results in an error.
You can convert planned collective orders in
SAP R/3
only.
See SAP Note 636846 http://service.sap.com/~form/handler?_APP=01100107900000000342&_EVENT=REDIR&_NNUM=636846Inconsistent Planning Situation After Conversion from APO .
Planned orders, which are generated in SAP APO, can be assigned to either
Supply Network Planning
(SNP) or to
Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling
(PP/DS).
Planned orders that are created in SAP R/3 and transferred to SAP APO can be mapped as either PP/DS or SNP planned orders in SAP APO.
If you do not make any additional settings, the system always creates PP/DS planned orders when planned orders are transferred from SAP R/3 to SAP APO.
An active integration model is a prerequisite for the integration of planned orders.
You can control the integration of planned orders on a more detailed level using the following settings:
In SAP R/3, using the
Create Planned Orders as SNP Planned Orders
indicator on the
Activate or Deactivate Integration Models
screen (transaction CFM2)
·
In SAP APO, by setting planned order integration in the implementation guide under
Advanced Planning and Optimization
Supply Chain Planning
Supply Network Planning (SNP)
Basic Settings
Maintain Global SNP Settings.
