When goods issue takes for the manufacturing order takes place, the required material components are withdrawn from the warehouse and staged for production. The withdrawal quantity is based on the reservation quantities that are automatically generated when the manufacturing order is created.
The goods issue reduces stock and order reservations by the amount of the withdrawal quantity. The material costs are assigned to the manufacturing order.
The withdrawal of material components in SAP R/3 has the following effects in SAP APO.

A by-product is represented in the R/3 manufacturing order as a negative reservation and is a planned receipt from the point of view of MRP. In the APO manufacturing order a by-product is represented as an output product (expected receipt).
