The settings you make in the APO product master depend partially on whether requirements that originate from sales orders are planned in individual planning segments. This is determined by the settings in the requirements class or item category in SAP R/3. If the requirements are generated in individual planning segments, you must also set the product master correctly to enable consumption of the forecast by sales order. To do this, you must create a requirements strategy in which the forecast is consumed by sales orders. The planning segment must, in contrast to the standard case, be set to 0 (initial) meaning that the forecast is planned in general plant stock and not in stock segments that are reserved for customers (sales order stock).

In order to confirm a sales order in SAP R/3, an availability check must be carried out. The settings in R/3 must correspond with the settings on this tab page. The check mode in APO is basically the same as the requirements class in R/3. For more details, see Settings for Global ATP in the SAP Library for APO Global Available-to-Promise.
