If in SAP R/3 you have defined
production in an alternative plant
for an assembly produced in-house, and
integrate the master data for the assembly with SAP R/3
, two sources of supply (production process models or PP/DS runtime objects) are automatically created in SAP APO: A source of supply in the location of the planning plant, and a location in the source of supply of the production plant. Automatic source determination for a planned order in the planning plant is therefore performed on two levels.
If you transfer the material master of the assembly in the planning plant to SAP APO, an in-house production source of supply is automatically created in SAP APO in the location of the planning plant. The source of supply for in-house production has the following attributes:
It contains the planning plant from SAP R/3 as the
planning location
, and the production plant from SAP R/3 as the
production location
It does not contain a plan
It is valid indefinitely
If you transfer the planning-relevant data of the assembly in the production plant (production version, routing, and bill of material) to SAP APO, an in-house production source of supply is automatically created in SAP APO in the location of the production plant. This source of supply has the following attributes:
It contains the production plant from SAP R/3 as the
planning location
It does not contain an entry for the
production location
, meaning that the
production location
and the
planning location
are identical
It contains the plan that has been created from the routing and the bill of material in the production plant
The validity period is the same as the validity period of the assembly
If the system creates a planned order for the assembly in the location of the planning plant, it searches in this location first for a source of supply. If the system determines an in-house production source of supply for the assembly, which refers to the production plant and does not contain a plan, it searches in the location of the production plant for an in-house production source of supply for the assembly. The source of supply must be valid on the requirements date/time and must contain a plan. In addition to the source of supply that you have created by integrating the master data for
production in an alternative plant
in the production plant, additional in-house production sources of supply, which you have created manually in SAP APO, for example, may exist in the production plant. It does not matter to source determination how the source of supply was created. It takes account of all sources of supply and selects the most favorable source of supply with regard to application-specific criteria.
If there is a source of supply for
production in another location
in the planning plant, and several valid in-house production sources of supply in the production plant, interactive source determination in SAP APO displays every possible combination of source of supply in the planning plant with a source of supply in the production plant as
an in-house production source of supply
. A distinction can be made between the in-house production sources of supply through the plan (as well as additional criteria such as validity, costs, or priority).
You execute procurement planning for the assembly BG in Hamburg (HH) and manufacture it in Walldorf (WDF). You have created the master data accordingly in SAP R/3. By transferring the master data, you create the following PPMs in SAP APO:
The PPM BG@HH in the location Hamburg
In this PPM, Hamburg is entered as the planning location and Walldorf as the production location. Since the assembly is not produced in Hamburg, the PPM does not contain a plan.
The PPM BG@WDF 7890 in the location Walldorf
In this PPM, Walldorf is entered as the planning location. The production location of the PPM does not contain an entry. The production location is thus identical to the planning location. The PPM contains the plan 7890 for manufacturing the assembly in Walldorf.
In SAP APO, you have manually created an additional PPM for the assembly with the plan 1011 (BG@WDF 1011) in the location Walldorf.
If you create a planned order in the location Hamburg for the assembly, interactive source determination displays the available sources of supply. In the example, the sources of supply are the possible combinations of the PPM in Hamburg (PPM BG@HH), with the PPMs in Walldorf (BG@WDF 7890 and BG@WDF 1011).
