Requesting and Installing an SAP LicenseLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use

You need a valid SAP license to log on to a SAP NetWeaver Application Server. After installation, a temporary license is also installed, which you need to replace with a permanent license.

If you install SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP and Java, you have to import the ABAP license (see the "SAP Licensing Procedure" document). You can then ignore this section.

Prerequisites

You have Application Server Java (AS Java) installed.

Procedure
  1. Open SAP NetWeaver Administrator in a browser, entering http://<host>:<port>/nwa .
  2. Choose Start of the navigation path Configuration Next navigation step Infrastructure Next navigation step Licenses End of the navigation path.

The system data you need to request the license from the SAP Service Marketplace is displayed:

    • Software product
    • System ID
    • System number (if it exists)
    • Installation number (if it exists)
    • Hardware key
  3. You can find information about applying for an SAP license key in the SAP Service Marketplace under the /licensekey quick link:
    Note

    service.sap.com/licensekey

  4. Received requests are automatically processed within a few hours. Assigning of your license key is therefore also possible outside office hours.

Do not change the license file manually. To import the license, you need to use the file unchanged.

  1. From the Available Licenses pane, choose Install from File.
  2. Choose the license file that you want from SAP.
Result

The license is installed and is displayed in the Available Licenses table.
