 Location Substitution Chain

Definition

A location substitution chain is a sequential relationship of locations that can replace each other.

Use

You use this interchangeability group to maintain the master data relevant for a location substitution. You assign the location substitution chain to a location determination procedure in order to integrate the location substitution in rules-based ATP.

The location substitution chain supports the following scenarios:

Location Substitution Scenario

Description

One-to-one substitution (1:1)

A location is replaced by another location.

Zero-to-one substitution (0:1)

You use this scenario to model the validity dates of the first location in a location substitution chain. In this case the first location is represented by the successor location.

Structure

The header data of every location substitution chain contains an additional indicator Relevant for Alternative Procedure. You use this indicator if you want to assign this group to a location determination alternative procedure. For more information, see Location Determination Procedure (LDP) .

The item data of every location substitution chain comprises the predecessor location, successor location, and master data attributes. The following table lists all master data attributes available for a location substitution chain.

Attribute

Description

Valid-from date

The period of time during which the location substitution is valid.

Valid-from time

Valid-to date

Valid-to time

Location determination activity

A series of actions are maintained in an activity that are executed during location determination. These actions include transportation and production, for example.

You maintain this attribute in the integrated rule maintenance of rules-based ATP. To do so, from the SAP Easy Access menu, choose Start of the navigation path Advanced Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Master Data Next navigation step Rule Maintenance Next navigation step Integrated Rule Maintenance End of the navigation path .

Priority factor

A numeric value that specifies the priority of each branch of a location substitution chain.

For more information about header and item data, see Interchangeability Group Types .

Integration

A location substitution chain is a subgroup of a location determination procedure. The location determination procedure is supported by rules-based ATP.
