SAP F&R uses both master data and transaction data to calculate the forecast. You can carry out forecast calculations for the following objects:

  • Forecast for stores

  • Forecast for distribution centers

The time series can differ accordingly. Time series management sends this data to the F&R Processor.

Prerequisites

You have defined the basic settings for consumption forecasting in Customizing of Forecasting and Replenishment, under Start of the navigation path Forecasting and Replenishment Processor Next navigation step Maintain Forecasting Profiles End of the navigation path in the Basic Settings area.

You have assigned a time series profile to the location in the Forecasting and Replenishment application, under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Location Next navigation step Maintain Locations End of the navigation path and assigned the forecasting profile to location products under Start of the navigation path Master Data Next navigation step Product Next navigation step Maintain Location Products End of the navigation path.

You have also scheduled the report in the application, under Start of the navigation path Time Series Next navigation step Calculate Aggregated Time Series for DC Forecast End of the navigation path.

Process

In addition to the regular goods issues, two alternative forecast methods are available for forecasting distribution centers:

  • 2 Historical Store Orders

  • 3 Historical Store Sales

You have configured the basis of the consumption forecast for distribution centers to enable the system to use the aggregated time series from store orders and store sales (instead of goods issues) as the historical data in the forecast.

Result

The result of the forecast is automatically taken over by time series management and saved to the database in the form of time series.
