Planning Package for a Supersession Chain

Definition

Planning package of the type 001 that contains the products in a supersession chain and that the system creates automatically.

Use

Procurement planning must always plan all products in a supersession chain together and in the sequence defined through the supersession chain. Planning a product irrespective of the other products in the supersession chain is not permitted. Common planning is necessitated by a planning package of the type 001, which the system automatically creates for the products in a supersession chain . The system creates the package if in SAP APO you assign an interchangeability group for the supersession chain to a location. In the standard system, the system automatically enters this planning package in the location product master of the products involved in the supersession chain. You cannot manually change the planning package in the standard system or assign a product in a supersession chain to another planning package.

If you assign new products to or remove products from the supersession chain, the system automatically adjusts the planning package. If you remove the assignment of the interchangeability group to a location, or delete the interchangeability group, the system also deletes the planning package. When creating or changing the planning package (that is, when changing the supersession chain), the system creates the planning-relevant event Change the Product Master in SAP APO .

Structure

In the standard system, the dispatcher heuristic SAP_PP_I001 is assigned to the planning package in the location product master. This heuristic organizes the gradual procurement planning for the products in the planning package (that is, in the supersession chain) in a planning run. The heuristic SAP_PP_I001 calls the relevant product heuristic for planning a product in the supersession chain.

Note Note

In contrast to the manually created planning packages for non-interchangeable products, you individually assign a product heuristic for procurement planning to each product in a supersession chain in the location product master.

End of the note.

Integration

  • You define in Customizing for Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) under Maintain Planning Package Types if an automatically created planning package can be changed in the location product master

  • You define number ranges for automatically created planning packages in Customizing for Production Planning and Detailed Scheduling (PP/DS) under Maintain Number Ranges for Automatically Generated Planning Packages
