  Product Interchangeability in Interactive Planning

Use

The system displays data for product interchangeability (InC) in interactive PP/DS planning. You can manually change planning for products and their interchangeable components.

Features

Display of Product Substitution Information

For the substitution of an interchangeable component in an in-house production order, there is either a product substitution order or the in-house production order already contains the substitution directly. These orders and their receipt and requirement elements are visible in interactive planning, just like normal orders. Interactive planning has the following features for planning with product interchangeability:

  • In the product view , you can display the stock for a product in the supersession chain. On the Stock tab page, choose Display Stock in Supersession Chain .

  • In the standard system, the detailed scheduling (DS) planning board represents a product substitution order with the symbol .

  • In the product planning table , the system can automatically display all products in a supersession chain. For more information, see Displaying the Interchangeability Group in the Product Planning Table .

Manual Planning Changes

The stock/requirements situation for the finished product and the interchangeable components changes through manual planning. This can have the following consequences:

  • A component is no longer valid on the changed requirements date/time or is no longer available in the desired requirement quantity.

  • The substitutions contained in an in-house production order or still mapped by product substitution orders, are no longer up-to-date after a change.

To solve the planning problems, you therefore have to execute a new MRP run or an ATP check after a planning change (depending on the scenario). To immediately update the stock/requirements situation in interactive planning, you can call the Product Heuristic for the finished product and the components in the product view, if required. However, you can also wait for the next MRP planning run.
